We
Say
Chat dates:
In August there was no "official" chat date just a few chat sessions to
see what was happening to chat and what could be done and what if any alternatives
there were to wbs chat . A few ideas came up over the month and a few were
followed up on with another nzfriends chat site at yahoo founded by whiffle
, already the Yahoo chat club has a growing membership . (This is only
one of many ideas being followed up). As August was a slow month for information
on who's doing what and where everyone is meeting we can only report where
the action is so if anyone has any ideas on when or where a chat
meeting should be please tell us or let the word spread somehow.
So tell us
what you want. Do you want organized chat dates? Would you prefer
to organize your own chat dates? What days of the week and times of the
day would you prefer? Would you rather stay in touch by email? Please let
us know by emailing NZChat@hotmail.com
In the mean time GO
Network have introduced their new Java Chat - which looks like IRC, but
it's much quicker than the WBS streaming chat we've become used to. You
will need a Java enabled browser. Check it out!
New Stuff in WBS:
Recently it seems the New Zealand Chat Room in WBS has been swept clean
of messages on a daily basis. There is a concern that this may be
the beginning of the end for NZ Chat, and that WBS may be planning to 'delete'
under utilized chat rooms. If anybody has 'inside' news on what is
being planned please pass it on to us.
The Message Board:
A reminder that this facility exists! Use it to stay in touch, pass messages,
jokes and stories. Find it here New

These are not Utopian conditions - Just incase you suddenly had a great
idea.....
> Do you ever feel overworked, over regulated, under leisured
and under
> benefited? Take heart, this notice was found in the ruins of
a
> London office building. It was dated 1852:
>
> 1. This firm has reduced the hours of work, and the clerical
staff will
> now only have to be present between the hours of 6 a.m. and
7 p.m.
> weekdays.
>
> 2. Clothing must be of sober nature. The clerical staff will
not disport
> themselves in raiment of bright colours, nor will they wear
> hose unless in good repair.
>
> 3. Overshoes and topcoats may not be worn in the office, but
neck scarves
> and headgear may be worn in inclement weather.
>
> 4. A stove is provided for the benefit of the clerical staff.
Coal and
> wood must be kept in the locker. It is recommended that each
member of
the
> clerical staff bring four pounds of coal each day during the
cold
weather.
>
> 5. No member of the clerical staff may leave the room without
permission
> from the supervisor.
>
> 6. No talking is allowed during business hours.
>
> 7. The craving for tobacco, wine, or spirits is a human weakness,
and as
> such is forbidden to all members of the clerical staff.
>
> 8. Now that the hours of business have been drastically reduced,
the
> partaking of food is allowed between 11:30 and noon, but work
will not on
> any account cease!!!.
>
> 9. Members of the clerical staff will provide their own pens.
A new
> sharpener is available on application to the supervisor.
>
> 10. The supervisor will nominate a senior clerk to be responsible
for the
> cleanliness of the main office and the supervisor's private
office. All
> boys and juniors will report to him 40 minutes before prayers
and will
> remain after closing hours for similar work. Brushes, brooms,
scrubbers,
> and soap are provided by the owners.
>
> 11. The owners recognize the generosity of the new Labour laws,
but will
> expect a great rise in output of work to compensate for these
near
Utopian
> conditions.
