Sega is releasing a brand new Sonic game for the dreamcast! Not only that but this is a party game (yes, like mario party)! The story goes like this, a new evil character named Void has all of the Precioustones, crystals made from the dreams and hopes of people everywhere. To combat this new evil, a Guardian Angel named Illumina calls Sonic and friends to save the world. Much like Mario Party, this game is played on a game board and it features more mini games than you can shake a stick at. But what is this "Shuffle" all about? Well that's how you move and win throughout the game. Movement in Sonic Shuffle is determind by the card you draw from a digital deck. The cards are also involved in the mini games, but how is probably different for each game and has not yet been disclosed. It seems you can choose from up to eight characters, Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, and Amy have all been confirmed. The other four are still up for grabs. Robotnik is seen in this picture, but it seems he runs some games, and is not a playable character, but who knows!
Everyone in this game retains their Sonic Adventure look, but it also uses the 'cell shading' techneque first pioneered by Jet Set Radio, making the 3D characters look like they were hand drawn. There are 5 boards at the start of the game, possibly there are more to unlock. The mini games can involve anything from rapid button pressing, to puzzels, to co-operative games. Some games involve one screen, while others are split-screen, and some are even spilt into four screens.
You can play this game by yourself, but ultimatly this game is a party game and the fun lies with the four player modes. Don't have 3 friends that can play with you like myself? No problem, Sega has you covered! This game can be played online!!
This game sounds killer, and be sure to look for it in the fall of 2000. The developer has not yet been anounced. So get ready for Sega's ultimate party game!!
