The Jedi Academy Trilogy
Jedi Search, Dark Apprentice, Champions of the Force

By: Kevin J. Anderson
rating: 3.5
Setting: 7 years after ROTJ

Comments:
For the most part, this trilogy earns a 3.5 because it was not very believable to me. The Sun Crusher and its quantum armor were pretty unrealistic, and so was Exar Kun's entrapped spirit and Luke Skywalker's body disassociation (which I felt was never explained very well in the first place). Of course, Star Wars itself is unrealistic, but the films make you believe they could really happen, and that is not true of this trilogy. The concepts of the Force take some strange turns, and too many things are destroyed and too many people are killed by superweapons for my taste. I think George Lucas created the Death Star to show how far the Empire would go, not to set a new standard in Galactic destruction.
