Splinter of the Mind's Eye
By: Alan Dean Foster
rating: 5
Setting: Between Star Wars: A New Hope and The Empire Strikes Back
Comments:
Since it was written in 1978, "Splinter" has an unusual ending. It doesn't end well at all, but then again, the author didn't know how it was supposed to go. As far as overall writing style, there are good moments as well as bad moments. Also, the author doesn't know that Luke is Leia's brother. Additionally, he doesn't have a good grasp on the concepts of the Force, but that's hard to have if a person has not seen TESB and ROTJ. At least it isn't quite as weird as a lot of the other Star Wars expanded universe books.
