True Happiness

It was as if the past hadn't happened,
It was like being transported to a time many months ago,
She radiated as much loveliness as ever,
And treated me like any other friend,
She talked to me and I was intoxicated with joy,
Though we didn't say very much,
The high it left me on was totally beyond comparison,
I felt as if all my troubles were gone,
All my problems solved,
It became my reason for living.

No matter how gloomy my situation,
A ray of sun light can always shine through if allowed,
And things will soon look brighter,
A positive outlook will make all my suffering look good,
Allowing me to understand why the pain was necessary,
And glad of everything I have.

Dwelling on that which I can't change,
Or things that were never meant to be,
Will only lead to misery and sorrow,
But looking to the future,
Accepting the way things are gives delight,
And a pleasure immeasurable on any scale.
