RENT is, in my opinion, one of the most important musicals ever made. Ok, so it doesnt break any musical boundaries, but the story is so true-to-life, the characters so real and compelling, that you can't help but be overcome with emotion during this high-energy show. And the messages embedded in the lyrics are so pertinent: "you'll never share real love until you love yourself"..."forget regret or life is yours to miss"..."no day but today!"...everyone can relate to these words. MAY THIS SHOW PLAY LONGER THAN CATS!! LOL
The Best Film of The Decade!!! Yes that's right, and anyone who says otherwise is gonna get reauchambeau'd, mmkay?? If there was ever a gay movie disguised as a mainstream flick, this is it. Let us count the gay references, shall we?: Big Gay Al, the German Scheisse vid, the Felcher & Sons piano, the show-tune take-offs (Evita, of all things!), a cross-dressing newscaster, and of course the relationship between Saddam and Satan, which mirrors my last relationship so well as to seem plagiarized!
Uncanny resemblance, huh?
This is a gorgeous photo of Anne Rice, probably my most favorite author of popular novels. Ive read every novel she's published under her name numerous times, with the exception of 2. I picked up Interview with the Vampire when I was a freshman in college and was hooked ever since. I wanted to be a vampire! I wanted to be immortal! If you've read her Vampire Chronicles then you know what Im talking about. These guys know how to live (er, die?)! The third book in the series, The Queen of the Damned remains my absolute favorite of her works. And although the screen adaption of Interview was abysmal (Antonio Banderas playing 14 year old Armand??? WHAT were they thinking!?!?!), I absolutely cannot wait for the others to be filmed (call me an optimist!). However, it looks like James Cameron will soon have The Mummy playing soon at a theatre near you. I wonder what beefy man they will get to play Ramses? Probably Woody Allen....
(Lestat as a collector's doll: Couldn't they dress him up in his rock n' roll attire instead??)
Is he hot or what!?!? This is, of course, Ewan McGregor who I think is one of the best actors in showbiz these days. I first saw him in Shallow Grave, but it was Trainspotting that got me hooked. Not only is he gorgeous, but he is a very versatile actor. My favorite of his roles has to be the character he played in Little Voice. He was soooo cute! the way he waited around for his pigeon to come home, and how he saved Little Voice from the fire....Im a sucker for shy, quiet guys :) Click on his pic to see a few more...
Here are a few songstresses that rock my world: Sarah Mclachlan, Tori Amos, Bjork, the Indigo Girls, Erykah Badu, Sinead O'Connor, and of course every gay man's favorite Madonna. Click on the pics to read some lyrics and to visit some kewl websites about them.
I love musicals!
What a cute doggie! Although I love animals, I didn't choose to be a vegetarian for some grand eco-biological reason...I am a vegetarian because not eating meat feels right for me. I don't condemn meat-eaters, therefore I don't expect them to condemn me.
Live and let live, ok??? :)
