Yerdua the Snake

Bullsnake by Pacific Gopher cross (Pituophis melanoleucas sayi catenifer)
Being genetically confused as he is he dispaly many characteristic of both his parents. He has a pattern and colour of his father, who was a Bullsnake, even down to the curious double and joined patches on the tail, these seem to be a trait of the entire clutch. However, he is relatively small. In size he is more akin to to a gopher snake, which his mother was. But he's all guts and will munch down several large mice for the fun of it. He is fed on sub-adult rats every 3- 4 days. He's become a little antisocial in the last year or so, and displays many of the characteristic triats of bullsnakes, such as a grunt-like hiss/bark! His hiss itself is very load and is something akin to air escaping from a badly punctured car tire! He'll rattle his tail with vigour, which produces a very intimidating sound from the leaf litter. He'll even hioss while you hold him. I don't hold him much any more but he often has to be hand fed i.e. holding the food till he catches it.
Yerdua is a beautiful snake. He was the second snake I ever bought. I bought him in 1994 and he's about 4 or 5 years old now.
