Title: Ash Catches a POKéMON!

Characters/Pokémon: Ash, Misty, Jesse, James, Pikachu, Caterpie, Butterfree, Pidgeotto, Meowth, Ekans, Koffing, Beedrill

The Story: The episode begins when Ash spots a Caterpie while traveling through Viridian Forest and he decides to try and catch it, although Misty is freaked out by bugs. Ash throws the Pokéball and it hits Caterpie. It goes into the ball and can't make it out in time, so Ash caught his 1st Pokémon, Caterpie. After going wild for a few seconds, and after findind out that Misty hates bugs, he brings Caterpie out. While bringing Caterpie out, Misty runs and hides behind a tree which is far away from Ash, Pikachu, and Caterpie. Ash puts his arm down to let Caterpie climb on, but just before he gets on his hand, Caterpie spots Misty, and makes a mad dash for her. Misty screams while Caterpie is trying to show her that he likes her. Misty backs off, so Caterpie is feeling sad. Pikachu goes over to comfort him, but Misty picks up Pikachu saying that she should be friends with Pikachu and Ash should be friends with "that creepy bug." But Ash leaves with Caterpie and Pikachu jumps out of Misty's grasp to catch up. Misty follows him but only because she's still wanting him to pay back for her bike and because it's the quickest way through the forest. The show skips to the part where Ash and his two Pokémon are getting ready for bed. Misty makes herself known to them and they both go to sleep. However, Caterpie calls Pikachu over to where he is standing on the stump, and they have a conversation together that is so cute It seems to be about Caterpie evolving into a Butterfree so that he can get Misty to like him. Then they go to sleep. The next morning, it shows Misty just waking up and she sees Caterpie sleeping right next to her. Guess what happens next. She unleashes a scream so loud it scares Ash and Pikachu out of their wits. When he realizes what wrong, he laughs and says that Caterpie just want to be friends with her. Then Misty says something that really hurts Caterpie and he just goes back into his ball. He is telling Misty that she should apoligize to Caterpie when a Pidgeotto appears. He trys to throw a Pokéball at it, but Pidgeotto somehow knows it's coming and hits it away. Ash, who is determined to catch it, send out Caterpie. Big mistake. Caterpie is soundly trounced even though he tried his best. He calls back Caterpie and sends out Pikachu. Pikachu shocks Pidgeotto and Ash throws the ball once again. This time it works and Ash has caught his second Pokémon. However, Misty starts yelling at Ash because he wasn't using common sense when he sent out Caterpie to catch Pidgeotto. Just then, Team Rocket appears out of nowhere. They say their dumb little motto, then they say that they want Ash's Pikachu. Ash refuses, so Jesse and James send out their Pokemon, Ekans and Koffing. Ash tries to protest that 2 versus 1 is cheating, but Team Rocket is evil, they aren't going to follow the rules. Ash sends out Pikachu first, but Koffing uses the Sludge attack and the sludge blinds Pikachu. So Ash send out Pidgeotto. Pidgeotto puts up a good fight by dodging the two attacks from the poisonous Pokémon, but is defeated in the end. Ash has to send out Caterpie, so he does. Caterpie is scared by the two Rocket Pokémon, but Ash remembers another one of Caterpie's moves, String Shot. Caterpie uses it and Ekans and Koffing are frozen in their tracks. Caterpie tackles Koffing who goes flying into Ekans and they are defeated. Meowth gives it a shot, but Caterpie uses String Shot again and Meowth is frozen. Team Rocket, knowing that they lost this round, takes off with Meowth. Ash and the others are happy that Caterpie won, but something is happening to Caterpie. He starts to shoot out some kind of string-like substance. When he is done, Caterpie is now a Metapod. Ash takes off with Metapod in his backpack and Pikachu and Misty follwing him, ready for the next episode.

The Good: Caterpie is very cute. That scene where Pikachu and Caterpie talking was also prety cool.

The Bad: Why does Misty hate Caterpie? She shouldn't be so mean to him.
