Street photography
Who are you when you are photographing on the street? Are you frightened by all these people? Are you in fear that everyone
is going to call your action a voyeurism?
Are you a hawk, looking around and watching for opportunity to shoot?
Can you make and sustain visual contact with people you are photographing?
Or are you escaping, using tele lenses, hidding in dark places?
Step into the light and photograph. Come close, as close as you can.
Fill the frame. And don't try to hide yourself
People, especially children and older ones, will immediately know your feelings. If you are photographing
because you want and like to, they will see it. If you are trying to understand them, not record another
picture, they will be friendly. Treat the camera as a tool to make contact with them. As a way to make
them your friends. This is the only way.
You are on the street to tell the story. Not to grab and escape afterwards...
