"Cowli, the computer is picking up a small space pod."
"Where?"
"In the terran system?"
"Terran? That's nearly five years away from Vegeta-sai! How did he get that far so fast?"
Arico, trained as a hacker in the academy, pushed several buttons and whistled. "Prince Kakarot was placed in a pod that hasn't been tested, designed to be the fastest in existance. Bardock was hoping that it would cut down on space travel. War ships would be the next thing closest to the speed of that space pod."
"We should notify Lema and let them follow. Our space pods will never catch Kakarot in time. We can go after Turles and Zucca."
They relayed the message and Lema readily agreed with their plan. She told them to be careful and to drop off Jasmine. They couldn't risk the baby being used against them should there be a stand off between the Saiya-jins and the Ice-jins.
Turles hovered over the planet, have received confirmed reports that Vegeta was being held in the main castle. He prayed that the boy was still alive and too young for anything the Ice-jins could want, having taken a year to track the boy down. He was mentally and physically exhausted, having received daily updates from Vegeta-sai. Very few Saiya-jins answered Bardock's call for an evacuation. Dillon, Torn and few other country Saiya-jins joined Bardock into space, leaving the only lives they knew.
With them, they took the technology that Bardock had been developing. Two months after they had left, Vegeta-sai was destroyed. Barely more than twenty Saiya-jins remained. All the more reason he had to get Prince Vegeta back and prayed that Lema found Kakarot.
He received a beep on his intercom; damn, would he ever be allowed to sleep. "What?"
"King Vegeta is closing in on our location." Zucca sounded tired and he was immediately on the bridge. "They ran into an Ice-jin patrol and were forced to separate. They ejected the trash and managed to slip a space pod through while Frieza's army followed King Vegeta."
"Damn!" An hour later, King Vegeta was on the bridge, his expression dark. "Is my son down there?"
"Hai."
Arico and Cowli came running up, "Jasmine?"
"Lema took her. Your daughter has a better chance of survival with Lema than she did with us."
They nodded, but he knew there pain. It would be several years before they saw her again. "Let's kill these bastards!" Cowli snarled.
Cyan longed to be with his twin, but he knew she was still alive. "Let's do it. I'll infiltrate the castle and get Prince Vegeta while everyone keeps the Ice-jins off my back!
Tasmir held the one year old, having grown fond of the Saiya-jin. Given to her by Frieza, he had orded that she raise him until he was old enough to train. Tasmir knew they would savagely beat the child, probably kill him before he reached adult hood. She herself had been stolen from her mother, forced to watch as her mother was brutally raped and murdered.
She didn't have the power or strength to avenge the death of her planet or race, and dreaded the day when the Ice-jins would hand her over to the Ginyu Force. Tasmir was of a feline race, humanoid most of the time, but capable of changing into a large Saber Tooth, with striped fur and hazel eyes that glowed a deep yellow when she was afraid or angry. She was one of the few races, like the Saiya-jins, to possess a tail.
The young Saiya-jin was already walking and he looked at her with trust. It was strange, despite the fact that he had known Tasmir since he was barely a few days old, he refused to call her mother. He simply called her Tas; it was the only word he knew. He hated the Ice-jins and would hide behind Tasmir when they came to study him, wanting to begin his induction process.
"Come on little guy, time for our walk."
"Ship... dadda..." Vegeta stuttered out. Surprised, Tasmir dropped Vegeta's sweaters and looked out her window. How would the child know about a ship? He confirmed her suspicion by pointing towards the stars, his eyes shining brightly. "dadda, dadda!" he shouted excitedly, jumping up and down on the floor.
Terrified of what may happen, Tasmir grabbed the boy and dashed down the hallways, praying that none of the Ice-jins or the Ginyu force would find them. If they heard Vegeta, they would take and kill him. There was something special about the boy and Tasmir had a strong feeling that she had to keep him alive at any cost. Tasmir had heard stories about the Saiya-jin race as a cub, wondering if they were as strong as her father had said.
Lema drifted in and out of sleep for days, holding Jasmine secure in her lap. The small child had grown and four more years, she would be able to walk and speak. In a short amount of time, everything had been turned upside down and she knew not when the war between the Ice-jins and the Saiya-jins should end.
Without sensory devices, Lema was unaware of the meteor field her pod wandered into, severely damaging the ship. Placed into a cryogenic ship, she drifted slowly through space.
Vegeta collapsed to the ground, clutching his head. "Lema?"
"What happened?" Turles demanded. He to felt the sudden jolt of pain and then nothing.
"She's alive," Vegeta whispered. "Lema's badly hurt, but asleep." Shaking off the dull ache, he roared several commands and demanded action. "Get my son and we'll worry about Lema afterwards!"
Cyan was teleported into the castle. Without hesitation he began to run, taking out any soldiers he saw along the way. Before he had a link to Prince Vegeta, but without his twin conscious, he had to rely on where he had felt him last.
"He's just a boy! Please don't hurt him!"
Evil laughter echoed throughout the hallways, followed by a fearful roar. "A tiger!" Cyan thought. Running around the corner, he skidded to a halt. He had heard of the Saber Tooth race, but never had he seen one of them. She possessed silver and black firth, her claws swiping at the creatures that tried to reach for the angry Saiya-jin.
The cat was bleeding from a wound in her side, the boy from his arm. They attacked again, one loosing a leg as the Saber clamped down with her sharp teeth. "Tas!" The boy screamed, running up to the wounded creature. She had been hit in the side with a laser weapon. The animal growled, trying to reach the boy.
Cyan had had enough. Powering up, he easily killed his opponents and picked up the boy. Prince Vegeta screamed in protest, biting Cyan's arm. "Damn!" He dropped Vegeta and the boy ran to the cat, clutching at the animals fur. "Tas! Tas!" He looked defiantly at Cyan, refusing to go anywhere without the feline.
He saw Lema reflected in those eyes and he didn't have the heart to deny him. Carefully he picked the creature Tas up, curling his tail around Vegeta's waist. The boy remained quiet, happy that Cyan was helping the cat. "Father's going to kill me. Still, the feline did save the boy."
Badly injured, Cowli stood over his fallen mate. They had been ordered back to the ship when they had been cornered and he refused to leave Arico. He was thankful that Lema had their daughter and prayed that Lema would one day tell Jasmine about her parents. Arico was dead and the emptiness in his soul was more than he could bare. Tears of rage and grief strieked down his face.
"Cowli, let's go!" Turles roared.
"Get off the planet, Turles! I'm not leaving!" Cowli had heard about the rumors of the Saiya-jin and loosing all emotions. Releasing that anger, the ground shuddered. He continued to scream.
Watching from space, the planet exploded in a golden light and Turles collapsed. The Saiya-jin race was dying and he knew nothing of Lema. They had Prince Vegeta and a Saber Tooth, but the cost had been a heavy one. They needed time to recover and King Vegeta had fallen into a coma. He would go after his daughter alone. "Cyan, take the remaining Saiya-jins and go to the Samarian system."
"What about...?"
"You are to take care of King Vegeta until he recovers! I will go after Lema and Prince Kakarot! You, Bardock and Raditz as royal guards have a mission! Do it!"
"Hai."
Turles took an extra ship from the shipping bay, saying nothing before he left. Cyan knew this was his father's way of dealing with his grief. Zucca let him leave, keeping the secret that she carried twins. 'Come back to me, Turles.'
'Everything will be fine, Zucca. Lema needs me.'
'I know.'
Cyan stayed with the feline for two days, Prince Vegeta by his side. He protested when they put Tas in the healing tank, but quickly calmed when he saw that she wasn't hurting from it. "You're very protective little one."
"Tas!" he pointed, wanting the feline out as soon as possible.
Her eyes were a deep gold, following his every movement. The liquid drained and she crouched, ready to strike if necessary. "Tas!" Vegeta cried, running up and throwing his arms around her neck. Relaxing, she began to purr, licking Vegeta's face and neck. He giggled.
Cyan was intrigued by the feline and was shocked to see her shift into a humanoid form with a very feline tail curled around her leg. She had a strange scent and he felt his fangs lengthen before he could regain control of his emotions. Tas stepped back, afraid of the red gleam in Cyan's eyes. "Who are you?"
"Cyan, royal guard to Lema. The boy is my nephew, heir to the Saiya-jin throne."
"Is his mother here?"
"She's tracking her other son, sent to an unknown destination. My father went after her."
"Her father?"
"King Vegeta is in a coma. We can't wake him."
"That leaves you in charge then, doesn't it?"
"Hai."
"Will you kill me?"
"Should I?" Cyan took a step closer to the frightened female, her scent driving him insane. Again he fought his instinctive nature, horrified that he was attracted to a creature not of his world. He had heard of Saiya-jins claiming off worlders, but he never thought he would be one of them.
Prince Vegeta glared at Cyan, as if he could read his uncle's intentions. "No hurt Tas! She friend!"
Cyan smirked. "You will not be harmed. Did you wish to return home?"
Tasmir tried to hide her pain, but he saw it none the less. "The Ice-jins destroyed it when I was very little. I'm the only one left of my world."
"We have something in common then, feline." Cyan was within arms reach of her, making her uneasy as he circled her. Her eyes darkened to a bright orange. "Will you join our fight against the Ice-jins?"
"I'm no fighter. I would only be in the way."
"That's not what I saw two days ago. You were willing to die for a child that wasn't yours. I can change that."
"You can teach me to fight?"
"Hai."
Cyan needed to leave and quickly. Pain exploded in his head, but he made it out the door. Never having experienced his other half, he regretted leaving the room for several days. He asked Zucca to show Tasmir around, refusing to go anywhere near her. Her scent drifted through the halls, making the pain more intense. The Oozuru roared in fury, burning him from the inside out. "She's not Saiya-jin!" he screamed back.
The demonic half didn't seem to care as he continued to ignore what it wanted. It was only a matter of time before he gave in, his father would kill him! Tasmir learned to love the Saiya-jins and their fighting spirit. The only one she shied from was Cyan. After two weeks, he finally appeared on the bridge, but he kept several feet away from her at all times. His eyes always glowed a bright red, unlike the common black she saw in the others.
Crew members stayed away from the Saiya-jin, his orders often short and demanding. Was he angry with her? What had she done to make him hate her? "Relax, child." Zucca told her one morning. "He's fighting his attraction to you."
"Attraction, but we're of different races."
"Saiya-jins have mated with off worlders in the past. Females were hard to find. You give off a unique scent and he's unable to resist it for much longer. Be thankful he's the only unattached male on the ship." Tasmir left the bridge. Would Cyan hurt her?
The days quickly passed and she loved playing with Vegeta. She slowly relaxed, no longer jumping every time someone entered her room. The Ginyu force couldn't find her here and the Saiya-jins could give her a new life. A month after arriving on the ship, she accidentally ran into Cyan near the med labs.
He looked exhausted, frustrated and sad. "Any change?"
"No. I think Lema's alive, but until she wakes up, we have no King. Vegeta's too young to take command and there's only a handful of us still alive."
She touched his arm. "I'm sorry."
"Don't be." Cyan headed for the bridge, but something made him turn and look back. Her shoulders were shaking and she tried to hide her face from him. "You're crying!"
"Go away!" She started to flee, but Cyan quickly caught her. "No!"
"Why?" He wiped the tears away, to have more fall onto his wrist. "Are you hurt?"
"No! I just wish I knew why you hated me!"
Cyan started to laugh. "Feline, if you only knew!" Tasmir was trapped, caught between Cyan and a metal rail that barred her from a 200 ft drop to the bottom. "I've been avoiding you. I can't hate you. Thank my other half for that one!"
"What are you talking about?"
"We have a double personality; the Oozuru side giving us our strength. At times it will demand to mate. I don't know why, but it's chosen you and I'm damn tired of fighting it!"
"I need to check on Vegeta."
"You're afraid of me."
"Yes... I mean no! Why would I be?"
Her scent had grown stronger and Cyan was close to losing his mind. He licked her neck, aware of her fearful growl. She shoved at his chest, he moved closer until she was pinned. Cyan growled in pain, looking at the red blood dripping down his shoulder.
He brushed her lips, ignoring the sharp claws in his arms. She was terrified, he would be patient enough to calm her. "Tasmir, why do you fear me? Am I hurting you?"
"No, but..."
"Is my kissing you painful?"
Cyan was confusing her. "No."
He deepened the kiss. Both were purring so loud, they could hear the echoes off the ship walls. Tasmir blushed, but he refused to let her go. He trusted his demonic half to know his soul mate.
