Woke up after graduation
and hearing all the congratulations
brought up memories
of when me
and my friends used to play games in the street
like ghost in the graveyard, tag, and hide-n-go-seek
taking out our super soakers when we had to retreat
From the other ones
with the water guns
Boy those days were fun
It didn't matter what we played
it was that we always stayed
together
but what we thought would be forever 
and never
end 
ended slowly,  starting off with just one friend
moving away
one day
then another day
another went away
cause he could not stay
eventually the day came
That I had to move away
our group of friends
came to an end
and I had to spend
the next 2 years
1000 miles from my peers
I had fears
and sorrows about leaving
realizing 
that there was no retrieving
The good old days in my friend's backyard
That was 7 years ago, wow! how far
It seems like yesterday in my mind
I wish I could be 10 again just one time
Just for an hour or two
cause I never knew
just how great life was back then
way back when
I had no worries
and only had to hurry
home before dark
so I could start
to get ready for bed
and put my head
down on the pillow
Into dreamland I would go

and I entered high
school
I thought it was cool
for a while
I'd just sit there and smile
maybe answer a question
if it was headed in my direction
4 years of high school have come and gone
those 4 years were ever so long
when I lived them
and did things in them
like staying up 'til 4
to finish a book report
for my English teacher
the literary preacher
and then there was girls
and that's a whole other world
There was one that I thought of
and thought I was in love
she'll remain nameless
I was shameless
with my thoughts
my minds shots
photographs
of her laughs
but it's all in the past
just another memory
for me
like when I used to be
that geek
playing games in the street

now it's time for life after high school
time to redefine the word cool
in my vocabulary
It's kind of scary
knowing that I gotta do
what I gotta do
to do
what I wanna do
being out of high school
is just the beginning
sometimes it seems like the world's spinning
awfully fast and it's making me dizzy
I have to keep my mind and my body busy
to make new memories
for the 
last 3/4 of my life
maybe have a loving wife
to share memories with
and maybe have a couple kids
then they can have their own memories
