NOTE: (just so you know, they are comparing Moist and IME)
"If there is an imbalance between the two groups, it lies in the
sheer star power of their respective frontmen. And, clearly, Moist's David
Usher has an edge, despite Edwin's laid-back mannerisms. Once Moist
mounted the stage, the differences became more evident - the decibel level
from the crowd went up a couple of notches (not to mention the pitch; fancy
that!)
"Still, Moist has much more to offer than just Usher's ability to
stir up adolescent female hormones. Their songs tend to be more direct than
IME's elaborate constructs, while still allowing for plenty of showiness
from guitarist Mark Makoway and keyboardist Kevin Young. And their range
isnt bad either, from favourite blasts like 'Machine Punch Through' and
'Ressurection' to the moodier 'Leave it Alone' and 'Silver' (which featured
some soaring backing vocals from bassist Jeff Pearce, who managed to pull
it off despite being hammered by the flu.)
"Ultimately, it was more love-in than grudge match, with I Mother
Earth and Moist playing tag-team and applying a submission hold to a
gleefuly willing audience. All right! Uncle already!"
James Morrison
