The Backstreet Boys Share Their Dreams And Future Schemes
Brian, Nick, Howie, AJ and Kevin have seen their dreams come true as their hits "As Long As You Love Me" and "Everybody (Backstreet's Back)" have stampeded to the top of the charts in countries all over the world. But success and stardom aren't all they're dreaming of!
It's hard to argue that with their 1997 self-titled album a best-seller here in the States and in the rest of the world, the Backstreet Boys are living out a fantasy. But bright babes Kevin Richardson, Brian Littrell, Nick Carter, Howie Dorough and AJ McLean are determined to keep reaching for the stars, and that means they have a whole new batch of dreams to keep them going.

Of course, you can bet that a dozen or more hit records are a big part of what these Orlando, Florida-based boys are hoping for in the future. After working so hard to make it to the top, this cute quitet has every intention of staying there! "Music will always be a part of my life," 26-year-old Kevin vows to BB.

But a lot of the predictions these sweeties have for their future go way beyond hit tunes and soulful ballads. After all, these way-talented guys are more than just musicians - they're senstive, creative and thoughtful guys who want to get the most out of life and aren't afraid to go for it. "There are a lot fo things that I want to do besides music," 23-year-old Brian explains. "I mean, I would love to get married, have a family. I'm very old-fashioned, you know, even though a lot of people perceive entertainers to be very shallow."

The blue-eyed babe would also like to do a few good deeds if his hectic work schedule ever permits. "If I didn't have to work I'd probably volunteer and go to a church and sing for free," Brian sighs. "I'd just do the things that I used to do."

Brian's country cousin Kevin couldn't agree more. He's got an itch to find that perfect someone and a super-cool plan for getting in touch with his roots, too. "In five years, hopefully, I would like to start settling down, possibly in Kentucky," the green-eyed doll tells us. "There's a house that my grandmother was born in in Kentucky. It's a horse farm now, but someday I'd like to buy it and restore it. I don't know if it's possible because someone else owns it and I don't know if they'd sell it since it's a really successful horse farm. But I'd like to take it back to it's original look. I'm hoping they might sell me just the lot the house is on, maybe just five or 10 acres."

Fantasy Island

While Kevin may be painting, sanding and hammering in the future, Nick's got a more tropical adventure in mind! "I like to just htink of the wildest things and try to make them come true," the blond 18-year-old gushes. "I am the kind of person who would love to do something like move to a tropical island and live by myself, or live with somebody. I'm drawn to the ocean."

As for Howie, he's got a craving for peace and quiet - and a quest to get back to his beloved home town near Orlando. "I'd definitely like to get married, have kids," Howie, 24, explains. "I'd like to move out away from mom and dad, just be living my own life in the place where I grew up."

Sounds relaxing, but, believe it or not, high-energy AJ has Howie beat in the chilling out department. He's got a yen to get in touch with his spiritual side in the Far East. "I'd like to go up to the place where Richard Gere went to, Tibet," the 20-year-old cutie confesses. "I would love to go there and see the temples and be at peace. I think that it would be really interesting and very soothing for the sould."

While AJs eager to kick back in a Buddhist way, he's not willing to go all out. Although some Buddhist monks shave their heads as part of the process of rejecting venity to reach inner enlightenment, AJ draws the line at a radical haircut. "It would be really cool to go, but I wouldn't shave my head bald again. I did that once and, whoa!, it was kind of scary!" Sounds like he may be dreaming, but he doesn't have his head too far in the clouds!
