Brian's heart problem was detected shortly after his birth, so he's known all his life that eventually he would have to underho such an operation.

His surgery was performed quietly last April in Orlando, Florida, Brian's hometown. Brian was a real trouper and we are relieved and delighted to report that his operation was a complete success.

So that Brian could spend 100% of his time betting better, he and his family requested privacy during the recuperation period, and the press responded admirably. Some fans kept a vigil at the hospital, but no incidents were reported.

While he was healing, Brian had to leave the Backstreet Boys for eight weeks, but he will be back for the summer tour.
