Howie's Tragic Loss!
On Saturday, September 12, 1998, Howie "Sweet D" Dorough and his family suffered a tragic loss. Howie's sister Caroline Cochran passed away from the complications of a blood disorder called Lupus. Caroline, who was married with children, lived in North Carolina. Howie has always been very close to his siters and brother, Howie's mom has said: "When he was younger, his sisters used to call him their baby...they would all baby-sit him." The Doroughs are a large, very close knit family. Caroline is survived by her parents Paula and Hoke, 39-year-old sister Angie, 35-year-old Polly Anna, 33-year-old brother John and of course Howie.
Upon hearing of the death of his sister, Howie immediately went to his family's side and the Backstreet Boys cancelled their September 13th concert in Minnesota. Kevin calmed fans by saying: "In six years of touring, we've never cancelled a show. We're sorry. It's important for us to make it up."
Backstreet Boys are doing whatever they can to help Howie and his family deal with this very sad event. If you'd like to offer your condolences to Howie and the Dorough's, please send your cards and letters to: Howie Dorough, c/o Jive Records, 137-139 W. 25th St. New York, NY 10001.
