The Songs : So Perfect

*Finished 2/00* [re-finished 11/01]
Music (11/98, 6-7/99, 1-2/00, 5/00) Words (11/98, 3-4/99, 7/99)

You used to be so perfect
now you're so tarnished
your shine has faded
and so has my love
You were so perfect
but you weren't flawless
and now I'm jaded
but I can't give up

You had me, baby
oh, you know you did
now you sound so shady
who you tryin' to kid?

The perfection that I strive for
hasn't broken down these walls
and so the perfection that I'd die for
doesn't allow me to fall

Another selection by these eyes
couldn't stop the pain I feel
blinded, shackled and denied
rejection's all too real

You walked right over me
I guided your footsteps
but I couldn't see through
all the lies you keep
Now it's so plain to see
in the memories I have left
I looked underneath you
and you're not so deep

I know your game now
I'm wise to your ways
Little miss "who's to blame now?"
I've been lost for days

The perfection that I strive for
hasn't broken down these walls
and so the perfection that I'd die for
doesn't allow me to fall

Some other selection by these eyes
couldn't stop this pain so real
blinded, shackled and denied
your pretention's all I feel

Background:
Music: This started as a random jam from the middle of nowhere... I can't even explain it, but this song has very quiet lulls and very raucous peaks. It's very... episodic. Jumps around quite a bit. Kinda like the person it's about. hah! The end was going to have another verse or something in there, but I decided just to jam it out. The last jam is really cool. Maybe some halfass lyrics will make their way in there someday. UPDATE : since writing the end jam, the band has forgotten exactly what the hell it was... so the ending has been lost. Who knows how it will turn out... UPDATE, part TWO : another ending has been added, from spring '00 jam sessions. This was finalized in 11/01... and there may even be more editing done in the future.
Lyrics: inspired by a person I once *thought* I knew. Blinded by the light...! The "official" title is So Perfect [without the (So) - I used to be undecided about it]. Now that I think about it, this song isn't really all that different from Feel Free. hmm. Ah well!
