The Songs : Times Like These

*Finished 6/99*
Music (1/99, 6/99) Words (4/98, 3/99, 6/99)

You need something from me
but I won't give it out so easy
don't ask for the one thing
that I can barely give to myself

I know that I'm sinking
but you still hold the key to save me
how could this be nothing
when I exactly know how you felt

In times like these I lose control
it's times like these that never take ahold
in times like these I lose faith in you
in times like these I don't know what to do
in times like these, in times like these
times like these...

Mark your words discretely
the truth is very sacred to me
you should give up something
cuz you're the one with much more to tell

In times like these I lose control
it's times like these that never take ahold
in times like these I lose faith in you
in times like these I don't know what to do
and it's times like these when nothing is gained
in times like these, results are the same
in times like these my hope is shot
it's times like these when you're all I've got
In times like these...

Background:
The title was jacked from Dave Matthews Band's "Crush" - I just thought, hey, that would be a really cool song title. Bada boom. This song was finally finished well over a year after it was first started. Whew.
Lyrics: This is kind of a desperate song, hmm? They aren't really based on anything specific... at least I didn't think so until about halfway through writing them. Now I know who this song is about. It's eery but it all makes sense to me. I might tell you later. The vocal arrangement has completely changed on the verse and the chorus, both... after I found good music to go with the words. The way I initially wanted to sing them has been severely funked around, but it's for the better. I hope! I took out three bridge-verses, because they seemed to water-log the song and they didn't really fit, anyway. The discarded lyrics might resurface in another song at a later date, perhaps slightly altered.
Music: I have finally found some music for this tune... remember this... "Untitled Jam 3 ("Without A Trace" - the heavy metal song) : Music (1/99, in progress)" - awwww yeah. Jammy jammo incorporato. Incorporato, take two: I've mixed in the "funky 6" untitled jam I came up with a little while ago. I'm getting pretty good at combining riffs and parts of songs that had absolutely nothing to do with each other. It's pretty sloppy, but it's got 3 big main parts, plus another bridge and a little thing on the end. The chords to the chorus have been re-written 3 times. This is another marathon song, surpassing the four minute mark. The music was actually done before about half of the words.
