You were my best friend
within a hundred miles
you've got a dual master's in
hypocrisy and denial
all I ever I needed was your trust in me
This is how you treat someone
that you claim to love?
you were the first to run
when pushes came to shoves
the only thing I wanted was your honesty
But some words are never heard
and your eyes don't lie
You face me, then you turn around
you leave me here, to burn on the ground
and put me out, whenever I calm down
I will reveal myself
to those who choose to know
I thought you were someone else
but it was all for show
you were just like everyone who claims to be
Friends until the end
well the clock just stopped
You face me, then you turn around
you leave me here, to burn on the ground
and put me out, whenever I calm down
you face me and then you turn around
you leave me here, to burn on the ground
and put me out, whenever I calm down
When the flood lights light up the sky
whose shadow will you hide behind?
or will they make you blind?
in the future that few can see
I can tell you it won't be me
who ends up on my knees
You held my hand when I
was underneath the knife
I tried to ask you why
you had to leave my life
but you got what you wanted now, conveniently
Some wishes do come true
and I thought I knew
You face me, then you turn around
you leave me here, to burn on the ground
and put me out, whenever I calm down
You face me and then you turn around
you leave me here, to burn on the ground
and put me out, whenever I calm down
put me out, if I ever calm down

Background:
Lyrics: I have no desire to explain these.
Music: I had the vocal/verse melody (and about half of the total lyrics) way before it ever had any guitar music, so when that showed up, it was kinda fit around the vocal. part of it sounds a lot like a Foo Fighters song to me, totally unintentionally.
