8/2/05 vs. Philadelphia Business Journal | Semi-final Playoff

On the second of August in 2005, The Philadelphia Zoo softball team played its first ever playoff game since its inception into the Center City Softball League in 2001. We lost in a thriller to the eventual champion by one run.

Two strikes on Amy!

Jen kicks up dust (wearing Purdue colors!)

Ken, no doubt screaming in disgust at himself as he only hits a double.

K-Lew likes her bat parallel to the ground.

Ryan misses, obviously because his eyes were not open.

Greg gets a base hit...

...rounds second vigorously...

...and scores at home plate running so fast that he blurred himself into the backstop fence and stayed there, like static cling, for 2 1/2 innings.

Even The Law must stop for a breather every now and then.

Apparently there's a play at first base. Or Sal is dancing again. Jen, Chris L, Will & Greg watch.

Amy watches Jen get a force at 2nd and try for the double up at 1st.

Chris O watches from left as Ken backs up a play being made by Greg at 3rd.

Todd watches intently from a mile away as Greg, Jen and Ken all race to catch a foul pop fly. Greg almost loses his glasses and somebody's playing peek-a-boo.

The umpire observes Todd backing up Chris L in left field.

Greg fields some dust (and a ball) at 3rd.

Chris O in left heaves the ball to Greg at 3rd, who will try to throw out that half-a-man at home.

Greg awaits his fan.

Chris O in SHORT right field (doing the lefty shift) backed up by Ryan. Hey, it worked like a charm twice.

The Ken patented flipitch. Chris L and Will enthralled.

Ken tries to catch a line drive with his mouth but Chris O is rather unimpressed. Complete with Pony Tail Action.

Chris L and Will watch Ken pitch again (with our stern umpire officiating).

Awesome wide shot with Jen and Will watching a Kenpitch.

Some of the at-bats and most of the in-the-field pictures were taken by Anna Thomas. She's keen.
