Code-Name: Alfie

Code-Name: Alfie!

'Alfie' was a low-class Cockney Briton who figured the only way to make a profit from the war and make a name for himself was to serve Hitler. As a Nazi double-agent, 'Alfie' was assigned to form and control the heroic Crusaders (his belt controlled their powers). He sent the Crusaders, who were totally unaware of his duplicity, into battle, where they upstaged the Invaders several times. 'Alfie' then arranged for the Crusaders to guard King George VI when he christened the HMS Hornblower. But unbeknownst to the Crusaders, the champagne bottle King George was going to use for the christening was actually a bomb (those fiendish Nazi spies!). However, suspicious of their mentor, Crusader member Dyna-Mite spied on 'Alfie' and discovered his Nazi allegiance and sinister plan. Catching the diminutive spy, 'Alfie' tossed him off a pier and left him for dead. Like all simple-minded villains, 'Alfie' didn't check to make sure Dyna-Mite was dead. He wasn't. He went to the Invaders and informed them of 'Alfie's plan, and they stopped it. When 'Alfie' discovered his plot had failed and his villainy exposed, he attempted to escape in his car. The Human Torch sent fireballs in front of the car to stop 'Alfie,' but he drove into one. His engine exploded and his vehicle went off of a bridge. Scratch one Nazi spy!
