The woman known as the Baroness was the daughter of the British Dr. Cromwell, who was a servant of Dracula. Dracula sent Cromwell to revive Baron Blood, and Blood promptly slew Cromwell while his two daughters watched. He then killed one of the daughters and transformed the other into a vampire. Although Baron Blood himself was soon thereafter killed by Captain America, Cromwell's daughter grew up idolizing the beast that murdered her family. In her warped mind, Blood had made her strong and saved her from death. As she became an adult, she became obsessed with the idea of making all vampires stronger and reviving the spirit of the man that had 'saved' her. To this end, she began slowly draining the blood of Kenneth Crichton--son of Jacqueline 'Spitfire' Crichton and the grand-nephew of Baron Blood. As Blood's last living male descendant, the Baroness set about transforming him into the second Baron Blood. She also needed to acquire the Holy Grail, which was supposedly able to cure vampires of their weakness in daylight. The Baroness succeeded in both turning Kenneth in to Baron Blood II and curing herself of her daylight affliction. However, as she and her vampiric gang gathered in the sun to free themselves from par of their curse, the Baroness betrayed her allies and crushed the Grail. As the sun rose, all of the vampires--including Kenneth Crighton--were destroyed. Only the Baroness survived, despite the efforts of Joey Chapman, the second Union Jack. The Baroness escaped from the scene of her treachery, pregnant with the son of Kenneth Crichton. She had seduced him while he was under her command, leaving her to raise the only descendant of Baron Blood. The Baroness' next plans are as of yet unknown.
