The Blue Bullet was actually Johann Goldstein, a Polish Jew working for the Third Reich. What? Well, Johann wasn't without his reasons. As the Nazis invaded Poland, Johann decided to move west, to London. He tried to persuade his brother Jacob to leave with him, but Jacob refused. Johann headed to London and changed his name to John Gold. He went to work for the Allies on a rocket suit he dubbed the "Blue Bullet." However, the Nazis discovered who John Gold really was and threatened to kill his brother if he didn't give the Blue Bullet to the Nazis. Reluctantly, Johann agreed.
Johann went to work in a British hospital, the only place that had enough room for his work. One night, that particular hospital was where the Invaders took Lord Falsworth and his daughter Jacqueline after their costly battle with Baron Blood. On orders from his Nazi superiors, Johann donned his battle suit and attacked the Invaders. Johann was defeated, and suffered a pathetic "Scooby Doo"-like unmasking. Johann was locked in the Tower of London where he was visited by the Human Torch. The Torch had guessed Johann's secret, and promised to rescue Jacob Goldstein. Johann pledged that, if the Torch was successful, he would resume his work for the Allies. Jacob chose to remain in Poland (after becoming The Golem). Johann still went to work for the Allies.
A few years later, Johann was again forced to work for the Nazis under the vile Dr. Death and his Battle Axis. Again, Johann was working to keep the Nazis from harming his brother, who was again the Golem. Ultimately though, Johann realized he couldn't allow Dr. Death to fulfill his scheme of releasing toxic gas over the United States. Johann stopped Dr. Death from activating his deadly oscillotron, but was gunned down by the Nazi Sky Shark. As the Golem, Jacob witnessed Johann's murder and avenged him by killing Sky Shark. Despite his mistakes, in the end Johann died a hero.
