Blue Diamond
The BLUE DIAMOND!

Professor Elton T. Morrow and his assistant were exploring the frozen wastelands of Antarctica when they discovered a giant azure diamond. They took it home with them to study when their ship was torpedoed by a u-boat. The explosion killed everyone aboard the ship except Prof. Morrow and blew the diamond to bits. The shards imbedded themselves in Elton Morrow's skin, somehow giving him superhuman strength and diamond-hard skin. Elton dubbed himself the Blue Diamond and fought Nazi spies--for a short time.

He preferred to retire his Blue Diamond identity in favor of being an anthropolgist. However, he came out of retirement to join the Liberty Legion. He served as a Legionnaire until the end of the war, when he decided to give up crime-fighting. After several years in retirement, Elton met the extraterrestrial Star-Dancer. They quickly fell in love, and she took him into outer space with her where he would live forever as her consort. Eventually, they were taken captive by the Stranger, so that he might study them. With the aid of the cosmic Avenger Quasar, Elton and Star-Dancer were freed and were able to once again soar through space in contentment (at last, a happy ending for a Legionnaire!--eric).
