Beware the Reaper!

The Scythe of...The REAPER!

The Reaper was a top agent of Hitler in the early days of the war. He was sent to spread anarchistic propaganda across the United States, so that US troops would have to pull out of Europe and return home. The Reaper spoke publicly about men living free like beasts of the jungle, refusing to obey laws forced upon them by society. Amazingly, his message caught on and anarchy spread throughout the US. Captain America and Bucky, shortly before joining the Invaders, battled the Reaper when the law couldn't touch him (since he was only giving speeches and not actually breaking the law). The Reaper tried to portray Cap as a criminal, but he and Bucky discovered paperwork proving that the Reaper was in fact an Axis spy.

Realizing his scam was over, the Reaper fled from a rioting mob and Captain America. As Bucky contained the rioting crown Cap pursued the Reaper into a subway tunnel. Desperate to escape, the Reaper ran down the wrong tracks and was struck by an oncoming train.

Following their battle with Baron Blood, as the Invaders frantically tried to get Jacqueline Falsworth to the hospital, Cap reflected on his battle with the Reaper and every person's battle with the real Grim Reaper.
