HEAVY METAL WILL NEVER DIE IF BANDS LIKE

EXIST!!!
DANIE POWERS:
(about the band...)
I am from Illinois originally, Steve and Adam are both from St. Louis,
MO, USA. We all three currently reside in St. Louis, Missouri.
(what kind of metal you play...)
.....We've been called "power metal, gothic metal, progressive metal, melodic
metal".
We've been compared to Mercyful Fate, Savatage, Manilla Road, Iron
Maiden and
others if that helps the readers any, but each review has also stated
that we
are very unique and original.
(your work...)
The first CD is simply "self-titled". There are eight songs on it.
We're pretty happy with how it came out. We've gotten some great reviews
on it and the fans are very happy with it from the mail we've been
receiving, and that is what is most important to me.
On the next one I'll be singing with more passion in my voice, I felt
that was something that could use improving. A lot of the lyrics will be
even more dark and brooding. We plan on beefing up the guitars a lot
more, and we have a much more seasoned progressive drummer on this one,
so it should be one to check out as well!
The next CD is tentatively called, "Nine Kinds Of Hell" and the themes
will be just that, "Darkened Paradise" is about a woman who is suffering
from depression and a dark spirit comes to visit telling her to "come
join my shadows, disappear". We will also feature songs off our original
demo (when we were known as "Equinox") because the fans response to that
demo has been tremendous and we've gotten so many requests to put those
to disc. Those song titles are, "Tragedy of Faust, Devil's Triangle, and
Echoes of Silence". We have some newer ones we're working on that are
as yet untitled that have an eerie middle eastern feel to them will some
dead stops and lilting, haunting vocals. I try to make each song have
it's own personality. Too many bands write the same song over and over,
gets boring IMHO.
(your lyrics...)
....Hmmm..well the lyrics that I write are based on past life experiences,
occult themes, classic literature and just every day kinda stuff that
makes me furious, like the song, "Deceiver" is about friends that turn
on you, I sure most people can relate to that vibe. I am influenced by
King Diamond's writing and also the Iron Maiden style of writing about
epic classics. The difference with my songs is almost every single one
of them is sung in the first person v.s. singing "about" someone. In
other words, I'm expressing my experiences to the listener, even in
the fantasy epics like, "Lord of Winds and Breezes", I take on the
roll of the Greek god Bellerophon to tell the story.
(what bands you've been in before...)
We were formerly known as "Equinox" but we eventually changed the
name because we came across too many bands with that same name.
Equinox was the same sort of line up, three piece, I sang and played
guitar as I do now, melodic, powerful stuff.
(what other bands you like...)
Iced Earth, King Diamond, Mercyful Fate, Dissection, Slayer, Led
Zeppelin, Emerson-Lake & Palmer, Psychotic Waltz, Skyclad, Savatage,
Testament, Dream Theater, Kiss, Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Death,
Yngwie, Christian Death, Fields of Nephilim, Some Type-O Negative,
I also like "ethnic" styles of music, Italian, Greek, Scottish, Middle
Eastern, etc., I find it fascinating and try to incorporate things like
the sitar of Ravi Shankar into my lead playing, that type of anguished
wail I can get close to with my tremolo bar on the guitar. My a-#1 faves
are King Diamond and Iron Maiden tho.
(how is the metal scene in USA...)
Well, in Missouri it's not too prevalent, here it's mostly "Alternative"
still. We played Texas a few months ago and it was really rocking,
great, great fans down there! Really it depends on the area, but on
the whole I'd have to say most of our fans are outside of USA ; Germany,
Italy, Finland, Sweden, Greece, Switzerland...that is where most of our
mail and orders come from right now.
(do you think the internet can help metal...)
The internet is a very powerful tool. We've met a lot of great people
like Johnny here who are so supportive. You can reach so many more
people this way. The internet is a whole world unto itself.
It's really exciting the response we've gotten from our site. I keep
it updated so fans can check back often and find some fresh information
and we also have a lot of dark and brooding fun things to exlore, it's
not all facts and info, but that is there at great length too because
fans have written me requesting these things. You can reach so many
more people and so much quicker.
We've been talking to an internet provider about possibly doing some
live stuff over the internet...I'll keep you all posted, I thought that
would really be cool!
(say sth to all the metalheads who will visit this page...)
I've said this before, but I cannot emphasize it enough. If you dig
metal, especially traditional metal, do NOT let anyone belittle you
for that. You're into music that has a very long, very fine history,
unlike a lot of this crap that MTV is spewing that will disappear for
the new flavor of the week constantly. Metal has substance and power
and as long as people like you keep the faith there will always be
musicians like us who will give you what you want, cos we're all here to
party together. We just must all support each other and FUCK anyone
who tries to tell us differently about our music! METAL RULES NOW AND
ALWAYS!!! KEEP THE FAITH...LOVE YA!
