The Offspring's Dexter Holland And Ex-Dead Kennedy Jello Biafra Form F.S.U.

Jello Biafra, legendary leader of the Dead Kennedys (and now with Lard), and Dexter Holland, lead singer of the Offspring, have established a benefit foundation called F.S.U. (F.S.U. stands for Fuck Shit Up, according to Biafra, and Freedom Starts Underground, as per Holland, and has other meanings such as Friends Shall Unite.)
F.S.U. is aimed at giving support for social services, assisting the less fortunate, helping maintain and restore a healthy environment, and fighting for human rights. The organization will sponsor events for which funds are allocated through one-time grants, which will be selected by the organization's board of directors.
The first few events are three California concerts headlined by the Offspring. The shows are June 29 at the Ventura Theatre in Ventura with 98 Mute, One Hit Wonder, and the Mad Caddies; June 30 at the Glass House in Pomona with Too Many Humans, F-, and the Joykiller; and July 2 in Santa Cruz with Limp and the Dwarves. The benefiting organizations are AIDS Project L.A., Poor People's United Fund, Trees Foundation, and Amnesty International. There is talk of Biafra, who also runs the indie label Alternative Tentacles, joining the Offspring onstage at one or more of the shows, but nothing is confirmed.
The F.S.U. board of directors includes Danny Rifkin, director of the Rex Foundation, which was created by the Grateful Dead and on which F.S.U. is modeled. Also on the board are Mark Anderson of Positive Force D.C., Greg K. of the Offspring, Vickie Starr of the public relations firm Girlie Action, Alternative Tentacles GM Kristin Lange, former Alternative Tentacles GM Greg Werckman, and legal counsel Rick Stott.
