COUNTING CROWS/CAKE

We took the T into Boston cause the venue was right down the street from one of the stops. We had assigned seats, so we really weren’t in a hurry. We got there half an hour early. I didn’t buy a shirt cause they were $26 and I only brought $20. We had pretty good seats, row 24 center. Adam Duritz (lead singer for Counting Crows) introduced the opening band, Cake. Cake played. I really didn’t like them. The crowd which was mostly people in there late 20’s and 30’s, I even saw a couple families (you know, the mom, the dad, the kids) seemed to like them. Their set ended crowd cheered. The lights came on and the stage crew began to set up. The back drop for C.C. that was black with this shooting star like object that had these rays that projected from it that would light up and look as if they were moving. It was cool looking. Light dimmed, crowd cheered chanting “Counting Crows” the lights came back on. It took like 45 minutes before they finally came on. The first I believe was “Recovering the Satellites”, they did most of their new album. To my surprise enough they did not play "Mr. Jones", “Perfect Blue Buildings”, “Round Here”. They didn’t need to do their hit songs to rock. The rocked on every song, the crows sang along, Adam danced and did hand motions while singing. He even pulled some woman up on stage on the last song and was dancing with her. They left and the lights came on again. We left to try to meet them. We walked down the street and around the corner to an alley way that lead to behind the theater. There was a guy parked in a car there. We walked over and he rolled down the window and asked if he could help us. He was part of the security. We tried to talk him in to letting us go back there. He said he couldn’t do that. We explained that we weren’t dangerous or anything, and he said I know but I still can’t let you guys back there. My friend walked over to the car and he got out and told us to step back, then he called someone on his walkie talkie. They continued to talk to that guy and I said I'll go look out front. So I went up the street to see if all the people were still standing there, no one was there. I went back. We asked if he knew when or if they were gonna come out this way. He said he didn’t know. We asked if he thought that we were wasting our time. He said honestly yeah I do. It was 11:00 the T- station closes at 12 we decided that if they didn’t come out by 11:30 we’d leave. 11:30 came around, my friend said “Come on let’s go, they’re not coming out”. So we were walking toward the t-station when she realized that she had lost her t tokens. We went back to the front entrance and there was a tour bus and about 5 people standing there. She went in to see if she could find her tokens. So I asked the people if this was CC’s bus. They said yeah, he hasn’t come out yet. I turned around and Adam was coming our way. He came over we shook his hand and told him they were great (which they were). My sister asked him why they didn’t play “Mr. Jones” he said, I don’t know I just kept changing the set list. My friend came out of the theater and she said she literally bumped into Adam on her way in and she hugged him and gave him a kiss on the lips. I saw her go in and bump into someone I didn’t realize who it was. We asked Adam if he would sign our ticket stubs, he did. My friend asked if he would sign her shirt she was wearing, he did. We talked to him for about 10 minutes and we said our buys and headed for the t-station. The t had about 5 people in the train we were on, including this old drunk guy who was swearing at us, he words were all slurred. I’m not even gonna go into that story cause it has nothing to do with the concert.
