Intervals add variety to lead playing. Take a look at the animation below. Intervals and chromaticism combine for an interesting effect. This lick sounds best when fingerpicked or, if you perfer to keep your pick in hand, hybrid fingerpicked. If you are in need of a turnaround, this is one of the classics. This classic pattern even gets its use in the country scene.

There is a major tonality in the key of "A", however, I incorporated the minor blues pentatonic into the ending on the audio sample. Once again, the major 3rd sneaks in at the end.
