Puddlegum e-zine: Review of the "Whole EP"

At first glance, we were both skeptical that this CD might just be another product from a mediocre Christian band. The art, however, implied that this band was doing something original. After scanning the demo tape, it became apparent that Pedro the Lion was offering the listener a very appealing sound.

Pedro the Lion’s debut EP is a unique blend of mellow, emotional rock with a laid back beat. They show musical creativity that goes beyond the average 90’s band. The songs tell the story of a rebellious youth who gets involved in drugs, and who eventually finds the “hole fixin’ man”, who brings him comfort and peace, making him whole. The vocalist does an incredible job of displaying the emotions of the story, ranging from screaming cries of desperation to soft and comforting lullabies.

Overall the disc is very accessible to people with varying musical tastes. This CD has depth and meaning that can provoke strong emotional responses in the listener. Pedro the Lion is a must for every music lover’s collection.
