CONCERTS

This is a list of concerts I've been to, I've put up little coments on them to give some idea of what I thought. Where ever you see the word MORE it is a link for something that has to do with the concert.

LOCAL BANDS - The Hard Rock Cafe, BMHS Alliston - 04/??/96
This was the first concert I had ever been too, and even though it was just local bands I became addicted.

LOCAL BANDS - Pulse 2, Lions Club Cookstown - Fall of 96
Had most of the bands that played at BMHS in the spring.

VARIOUS - Edgefest 96, Molson Park Barrie - 06/30/96
The first real concert I was at, I saw many great bands on this day to name a few: Big Sugar, 54-40, Our Lady Peace, The Tea Party.

MORE

VARIOUS - Molson Park Barrie - 08/10/96
This show was for Alanis Morisette, now before you want to tell me off for this listen to why I went, I knew a bunch of people going, my cousine had an extra ticket so I was going for free, and Our Lady Peace was playing.

LOCAL BANDS - Pulse 3, Lions Club Cookstown - 05/16/97
I had to work this night so I missed most of it but I did get to see a band that I would soon love, that band was Tristan Psionic, check them out if you can.

LOCAL BANDS - The Hard Rock Cafe, BMHS Alliston - 04/06/97
Another good night of seeing some local bands, except for this one band they first did a cover of Aneurysm (nirvana) and it sucked big time, and then they did Nautical Disaster (the hip) and that was ok.

VARIOUS - Edgefest 97, Molson Park Barrie - 06/28/97
This day was pretty boaring until The Tea Party came on (for a review of their set go here. This was also the first time I taped a concert. I would have liked it more if The Tea Party was the headlining act like the year before but oh well.

MORE

VARIOUS - Another Roadside Attraction, Molson Park - 08/02/97
Finally got to see the hip, and until they came on I was bored out of my mind. Now I tried to tape this as well but I had a case of softmore jinx, I got my equipment in but I made an error but thats another story. This concert was the reason I got a recorder.

LOCAL BANDS - Pulse 4, Lions Club Cookstown - 10/24/97
A good night of local bands, saw some new ones that I like a lot.

THE TEA PARTY - The Warehouse, Toronto - 11/06/97
Best concert I've ever been to. Maybe because it was the first time I could actually see a real band (tea party) this close (about 15-20 feet away), and they are either my favorite or second favorite band (the hip are the other band). Econoline Crush opened but had their equipment to loud so it was distorted and very hard to hear the vocals, but I still enjoyed there set.

MORE

LOCAL BANDS - Highly Complex Christmas Party, Newton Robinson - 12/19/97
Me and my brother were the first 2 people there, great night.

MORE

OUR LADY PEACE - Maple Leaf Gardens, Toronto - 01/17/98
The first concert of the year and what a way to begin, Our Lady Peace and Everclear. First off we got to go to the soundcheck and we were in the second row on the floor on Duncan's side. After the soundcheck we got to meet the band and get autographs, I even gave Raine a copy of my bands tape. The concert was amazing as well.

MORE

LOCAL BANDS - Sonic Sculpture, Alliston Arena, Alliston - 02/06/98
This concert had the bands Cut-Out, Surfer Girl, and Petra's Dish, the last band was one I had never heard of and wasn't really impressed by. This was, unfortunatly, Cut-Out's last concert, and it was pretty good with Lee (one of the guitarists) climbing up onto an amp during the 20min finale.

MORE

THE TEA PARTY - The Lyric, Kitchener - 03/19/98
The Tea Party and Econoline Crush again but this time Econoline Crush's equipment was at a much better level and I could hear the vocals. The Tea Party set was great as well, at the beginning some guy broke the table beside me and I cut my finger on it protecting people's backs. The only problem is that their were way to many people at the concert, they probably broke some major fire codes.

LOCAL BANDS - Hard Rock Cafe, BMHS Alliston - 05/01/98
A great night, Surfer Girl was the headliner and my band opened, there were some good bands in between as well. I have the setlists for Surfer Girl and Puddle (my band).

MORE

SONIC YOUTH - The Warehouse, Toronto - 05/11/98
My first Sonic Youth experience, it was amazing. They opened with a long noisehowlingearscreechingdicibalbursting instrumental called Anagrama (sp?) and then played Sunday, this song is awsome, and quikly turned me into a Sonic Youth fan. Now I have to go buy some albums. The opening band CCMC didn't turn my crank. They are extremely talented but I didn't like them.

LOCAL BANDS - Fine Arts Festival, BMHS Alliston - 05/21/98
This really wasn't a concert, it was a night for family and friends to come look at what we've been doing this year in school. The FAC decided there should be some music as well. My band played for about 20min and then we got Surfer Girl to come up for 20min followed by Andrew Karanfilis for about 5min. Everything was accoustic and great. We played some new stuff and we included a cover, She Drives Me Crazy. Then Surfer Girl came up and opened with the name game, they had a great performance and so did Andrew.

LOCAL BANDS - Pulse 5, The Band Shell ALliston - 06/12/98
This was a great night, the show started at 3 with a dj and then around 3:40 my band came on. We played really good and everyone seemed to like our cover song (She Drives Me Crazy). Many bands followed as well as djs. Hang 10 was great and so was Andrew K. Sufer Girl's guitarist Brent was having problems with his guitar, it kept coming out of tune so that put a damper on a great set. Pup (a favorite for a lot of people around here, not for me though) did a really good set displaying some of there new songs. A band called The Salads (from New Market) was supposed to close the show but because of time and weather they were unable to, so Glory Ryde (a cover band) took to the stage and played a great set (only 2 songs) the first song (not sure of the name, possibly The path that no one knows) was great (as usual) and then they played Supernaught, as usual they did an amazing job with it, at the end Lee (From Hang 10 and formerly of Cut-Out) set off fire works from his guitar, it was a great show.

VARIOUS - Edgefest 98, Molson Park Barrie - 07/01/98
Great show. The bands I saw were part of the Killjoys, Sloan, Foo Fighters, Green Day, Moist, and The Tea Party. Sloan were really good, Foo Fighters (I thought) were kind of mediocer, they were really energenic but it was nothing like I expected, it seemed like Dave's vocals weren't into it, he definitely was though. Green Day were great (I don't even like them) they were probably the highlight of the day (any one who's been to an Edgefest this year will most likely agree) they were very entertaining. I enjoyed the Moist set as well (once again another band I don't like) except it was kinda corny when David Usher said "I've lost my place" and went into one of his songs. Now comes the Tea Party. They were great, my favorite part was when they brought Edwin (formerly IME) out for the last song and played "I'm Affraid of Americans". It was definitely a great day.

THE TEA PARTY - Western Fairgrounds, London - 07/30/98
Amazing show, "The Tea Party & Friends". The line up was sapposed to be Joy Drop, Treble Charger, Econoline Crush, and The Tea Party. Unfortunatly Econoline Crush was stuck in St. Louis waiting for a plain, but on the other hand it was great because The Tea Party was able to play longer than originally planned for. I met the guitarist of Treble Charger and everyone in Joy Drop, I also stayed in the same motel as The Tea Party but didn't find out until after they had already left 8~(. It was a great show and I can't wait until September to see TP again.

MORE

GIRLS VS BOYS - The Opera House, Toronto - 08/17/98
This was a great show, I went to see Girls Against Boys, I hadn't heard too much of this band but I really enjoyed them, I met them at the Edge 102.1 and then talked with them a bit after the show as well. The first band Le Savy Sav was, uh very energenic and i enjoyed them as well but the middle band Buffalo Daughter didn't really grab me, they were very talented at what they did though.

MORE

VARIOUS - Summersault 98, Molson Park Barrie - 08/23/98
Finally got to see Hayden, although it was only for 20min it was still great. The next band I saw was IME with there new singer and he does a great job of impersonating Edwin, I never really liked IME anyway. I also got to see Garbage which I really enjoyed they put on a great show and during the song Stupid Girl they would go into Spice Girls stuff for the chorus and then when they did it properly they just said stupid girls, it was the funniest thing I've seen in a while. OLP was up next and I found there show to be dull, they play a bunch of Naveed stuff and then Clumsy stuff which I think is a horrible way to do a show, they also had to finish early (60min) so that Crystal Method would have time to do there thing, I was going to stay but with the storms moving in and me being on my feet for the last 16 hours I decided I should leave.

MORE

ECONOLINE CRUSH - The Warehouse, Toronto - 09/26/98
After missing Econoline Crush on my last 2 attemps (07/01/98, I got there to late to see them & 07/30/98, they were stuck in St. Louis) I would finally get to see the band that got my attention opening for the Tea Party way back last November. This time EC was the headliner and brought some friends with them, Carmel (local band, pretty good) and Stabbing Westward. Now I had heard a few SW songs before and enjoyed them but they absolutely blew me away, the show was amazing from beginning to end and in my opinion stole the show. EC was still great and they even put up with people throughing bottles at them, I wish people would respect bands a little more.

MORE

SEMISONIC - The Opera House, Toronto - 10/13/98
Welcome to the world of Semisonic. Well thats how I felt when I saw them, I had only heard the singles from the new album but they blew me away, this was one of the best shows I saw this year. The opening band was from Europe somewhere and they sounded a bit like Beck. If you get a chance to see Semisonic do so because they will blow you away. You should check out the "more" section because we got the setlist from the stage.

MORE

LOCAL BANDS - The Cookstown Lions Hall, Cookstown - 10/21/98
Well my band played another show finally and this time it was to about 175 people, we played in front of our employers (a large Mcburger company is all I'll say). We were originally told we would have 15min, then 30min (there was another band as well) so we had setlists for both time lengths and when it was time to play we were told 30min again but we only got to play 4 songs (the first 4 on the set) and then the other band came up and played, but after them we got to play another song and we chose "Just What I Needed" (by the Cars). It was a good show and we had fun.

MORE

SLOAN - The Palaise Royale, Toronto - 11/03/98
A building with a lot of history in it (much like the Opera House or MLG) and it has a really cool floor (if you've been there you know what I mean, if not I'll say this, it bounces with you). So here I am the first night that Sloan is in Toronto and it was fantastic. The opener, Rufus Wainright (sp?), didn't really appeal to me but aparently a lot of the audience enjoyed him. Anyway back to Sloan the last time they were close to Toronto was Edgefest and any Sloan fan knows that they hate large concerts and play pretty bad at them, well the last time they were in Toronto was the Varsity Arena show and Chris said they didn't enjoy it there but they were awsome at this small 900 capacity club. They rocked their way through a 25 song setlist and the crowd loved every minute of it. After the show I got to talk to Chris and asked him some questions (and got it on tape, like I should have with OLP in January). I also got him to sign my "Smeared" record. Once again an amazing show.
MORE

HAYDEN - Lee's Palace, Toronto - 11/15/98
My second Hayden experience just makes me want more. The show was great, great set, great sound, great day. The only problem is my tape ran out during the second last song "Bad as They Seem" which wasn't so bad becuase they stopped it half way through and changed to an awsome version of "In September". I got a setlist from the stage and got it and a poster autographed by Hayden. Like I said above I want to see more of Hayden.
MORE

LOCAL BANDS - TecWeGwill Hall, Newton Robinson - 02/12/99
Jippers its been a long time since I've been able to see the local talent and boy I Missed it, As usual The Admiral Andrew put on a fabulous show as did Hang 10.

THE TRAGICALLY HIP - The Hershy Center, Mississauga - 02/19/99
Got to see the hip again and this time the recording worked (see 08/02/97). Anyway they put on an absolutly fabulous show playing all sorts of great songs that I wasn't expecting. I hope the next 2 shows are just as good or better.
MORE

THE TRAGICALLY HIP - The Air Canada Center, Toronto - 02/22/99
Hip show #3 and it was pretty good, not as good as Friday's show but pretty good. The setlist was rearanged but they played basically the same songs.
MORE

THE TRAGICALLY HIP - The Air Canada Center, Toronto - 02/23/99
Hip show #4 and the best one I've seen. They played "Locked in the Trunk of a Car" and I had hoped to hear it at least once in the 3 GTA shows. They played a lot of different songs than the 2 previous shows which was great. Can't wait until next time.
MORE

LOCAL BANDS - A Crescendo Rings On, The Alliston Arena - 02/26/99
A show that I put on with my band headlining, the other bands involved were "Welcome to Roswell", "Andrew Fraser", "Jeremy Day", "Killswitch", and "Andrew Karanfilis". Thanks to everyone who came out, the show was a great experience.

PUDDLE - The Millpond Cafe, Alliston - 04/01/99
This was a show for my band as well, it was acoustic and it didn't sound to bad either, it was also the release date of our ep called "Time Out".

THE TEA PARTY - Open Mike, Toronto - 05/19/99
The Tea Party were the musical guest and Jeff Martin was one of the guests being interviewed and it was a good show, they did an awsome job and temptation's solo was just mind blowing.

THE TEA PARTY - Cayuga Speedway, Cayuga - 05/22/99
The Tea Party was headlining the night and they were awsome, played some new songs and just blew me away as usual, there were some covers included as well such as Voodoo Child, Dazed & Confused, and Heroes (for those who don't know tp was doing it before the Wallflowers). The Miller Stain Limit and Headstones also played and were both pretty good.

More

54-40 - The Roxx, Barrie - 06/02/99
I was off to see 54-40 this night a band which I havn't seen since edgefest 96. They rocked, very tight and played a great show, but I think I enjoyed By Devine Right more (who I havn't seen since the hip shows) and they were just awsome. Why is it that Barrie crowds are complete assholes?

More

THE TEA PARTY - Lee's Palace, Toronto - 06/03/99
The Tea Party. Well it had been a good week and a half since I had seen the boys and I was hurtin for some more live tea and I got it, they put on an amazing show and when you see them in Lee's it that much better, can't wait until the the 8th for the White Ribbon show.

More

VARIOUS - The Phoenix, Toronto - 06/08/99
The White Ribbon Campaign. This is a great cause and everyone should be part of it, it is a shame that we need it but what can we do. Anyway Jeff Martin was out numerous times, with Todd Kerns (age of electric), a solo set, with the rest of the band and for the "all star" jam. It was a great night except for the equipment trouble.

More

VARIOUS - Edgefest99, Molson Park Barrie - 07/01/99
Well this is the worst edgefest I've been too, the lineup was pretty crappy and it rained like hell, oh well treble charger and silverchair were both awesome.

More

THE TEA PARTY - The Dard, Wasaga Beach - 07/09/99
The next Tea Party show. This was a great show and would've been awesome had the crowd not sucked. It was like any other Barrie crowd. The band was pretty tight and they extended the jams a little plus they played Halcyon Days. Pure extasy.

More

VARIOUS - Woodstock99, Rome NY - 07/23/99 - 07/25/99
Go here to read what I had to say about it.

More

THE TEA PARTY - The Warehouse, Toronto - 09/15/99
The 1st of 2 nights of the Tea Party, it was awsome. The band was in good shape with only one error that I can think of, they even had the oud with them for Halcyon Days (my favorite song) and it was once again pure extasy. Good crowd, can't wait until tonight.

More

THE TEA PARTY - The Warehouse, Toronto - 09/16/99
The 2nd night and it was way better than the 1st one. This was the best Tea Party concert I've been too and I can only assume that the more I see them it will keep changing. But for now this will hold the champion title. If only my recorder hadn't screwed up during ACSOL than I would be totatly happy.

More

THE TEA PARTY - The Western Fairgournds, London - 09/18/99
I just couldn't wait to see them again so I went to London, the show was great, not as good as the 2 shows earlier this week but it was still great. I can't wait until November 22.

54-40 - The Foundation, Barrie - 10/09/99
It was 54-40 tonight, an unanounced show in a club that holds about 300 people, the band was awsome this night. A lot of people were on the dance floor dancing which I havn't seen before, it was interesting but at the encore I went right up front and was about 6 inches away from the band, got another setlist and pic from Nathan, the guitarist. The first show I've been to in Barrie were the crowd was cool.

MORE
Sloan - The Main Event, Toledo OH - 11/20/99
Made the 4 hour drive to the states to see Sloan in a club with 200 other people in it, talked to the band for about an hour after the show. Twas cool.

Tea Party - Massey Hall, Toronto - 11/22/99
All I have to say is Turn the Lamp Down Low was awsome and it was nice to see the return of Inanna. Oh yeah, after coming home from the show above this I was up at 5am to go to work, than went to this show and was up at 5am the next day for work only to go back out the following night for another concert and than once agian get up at 5am. Very tiring week.

Tea Party - Massey Hall, Toronto - 11/23/99
See above, minus Turn the Lamp Down Low.

The Tragically Hip - Air Canada Center, Toronto - 12/31/99
Great show, highlights include Hayden, and the new songs as well as 100th Meridian.

The Divine - Club 220, Barrie - 01/28/00
This was a local industrial band and they were great, bought a cd and recorded their performance for an upcoming release.

Beck - Maple Leaf Gardens, Toronto - 02/06/00
Ok, well we really went to see the opening band, Danko Jones, it was beutiful and we're hooked now so every chance we get we'll see them. Beck was decent but I don't care for most of his new matirial and that made up the majority of the setlist.

Danko Jones - The Lava Lounge, New Market - 03/31/00
Great show, after being hooked on DJ at the Beck concert I had to see them in a small enviroment and this was beutiful, met the band, nice guys.

Danko Jones - The Foundation, Barrie - 04/13/00
This show was even better than the last one, we kept yelling out for a song (Dr. Evening) that is rarly played and they played it for us, after the show we found out that they had only practiced the song once with Damon (the current drummer, also plays for Hayden) at a soundcheck a few days before.

Nine Inch Nails - Maple Leaf Gardens, Toronto - 04/28/00
Wow, it was my first NIN concert and I was both sonicly and visually blown away. I thought they would play longer than the 90min that they did but oh well. They played a lot of older songs and not a lot of the new stuff.

Ween - The Warehouse, Toronto - 05/08/00
Cool, that is the best way I can sum this show up. I went because my friend had an extra ticket and when he had played a couple songs for me they sounded cool. Much different than concerts I usually attend, which was a very nice feeling.

VARIOUS - The Phoenix, Toronto - 06/06/00
The 3rd (my 2nd) annual White Ribbon Benefit concert. Was pretty cool but a lot of repeat songs from last year. Still cool to see The Tea Party do something completely differnt though.

Danko Jones - The Crows Nest, Oshawa - 06/24/00
Incredibly good show, I believe that I have now gone from a serious fan to a die hard. I intend to see them every chance I get. They know me (and some friends) now so Danko was talking to us before the show. Very good performance, got them to play Dr. Evening again.

VARIOUS - Edgefest, Molson Park, Barrie - 07/01/00
Not a bad show, the only bands that I enjoyed were Filter and The Tea Party. Getting to old to enjoy these all day festivals.

VARIOUS - Summersault, Molson Park, Barrie - 08/11/00
Came to see a few bands and enjoyed this show much more than Edgefest. The bands I enjoyed were A Perfect Circle (who were way better than when I saw them with NIN), Foo Fighters (who I realy like unlike the last time I saw them - 07/01/98), and The Smashing Pumpkins who I enjoyed as well but they played too many songs in a short time so everything was fast. I thought it was funny how they played a lot of new songs 1st to get a lot of the crowd to leave and let the fans stay to watch.

VARIOUS - Humble & Fred Fest - Fort York, Toronto - 08/26/00
I came for 2 bands Danko Jones and 54-40. We also came for some free food, at least that was the impression we got from the ads we had heard on the radio. It turned out however that the food was not free, infact it was quite expensive so we went the the Lonestar Texas Grill instead. When we came back we saw Janes Addiction, I mean I Mother Earth, I mean Clarknova. I didn't like them. but Danko Jones was incredible as I knew they would be and as usual 54-40 were great as well, I bought the new disc the next day.

THE TEA PARTY - The Dard, Wasaga Beach - 09/01/00
Great show, they opened with the River which they havn't done in some time, nothing to special though still the same basic setlist.

THE TEA PARTY - The Kee to Bala, Bala - 09/02/00
This show the band sounded way better than the night before but the setlist was even more boaring. My Bro-in-law filmed it on his digital camera but was kicked out before the encore and had his tapes taken away, too bad, it was the best video boot I've ever seen, I was watching it over his shoulder and it was incredible.

DANKO JONES - The Foundation, Barrie - 09/07/00
Do I even need to say it, yeah. This band gets better every time I see them, Incredible show and they played some new songs. Someone got kicked out for getting on stage which just added to the awsome night. The highlight would be at the end of the show when the DJ put on some music and Danko was singing along with The Clash's "Should I Stay or Should I Go".
