-CHAPTER 12-
I woke up with the sun in my face. What time was it? I leaned over and glanced over at the alarm, but it was no longer on the bedside table.
I lay back, and my fingers touched something soft. I wound it around my fingers as I did my hair when I was thinking.
Someone groaned.
My eyes shot open and I sat up with lightening reflexes. Taylor lay next to me, half asleep.
"Oh shit!!" I screamed and he woke up.
"What?" he sat up groggily and wiped his eyes.
"Oh Mother of God!" I shrieked and I nearly fell out of bed.
His eyes opened and he was fully awake as he looked up at me.
I looked down and realized I wore only my black dress which was sitting on my hips. I yanked the top cover off the bed and wrapped it around me. Oh God, this couldn't be happening. I wrapped the sheet tight and tied it.
He was awake now, blathering on. "Oh my God, Kris, I never thought that I would-"
I grew hysterical. "Me either! Oh my God, Taylor!"
"I don't know what got into me." he said and got up, but he was stark naked.
I covered my eyes. "Cover yourself." I moaned. "Oh my God. My God."
He came over and grasped my arms and held me still. I felt like keeling over. "Kris, I-"
I shook him off and grabbed his clothes. "Get dressed! Now!"
He caught the clothes I threw at him. "Listen, Kristen, please understand that I would never have-"
I searched for my suitcase, but it seemed to have majically disappeared. "Oh my God." I mumbled to myself. I couldn't find my suitcase. God dammit!
He came up and held me by the arms. I saw that he had pulled his shirt on. "Listen, Kristen, I never knew this, but I lo-"
I clapped my hands over his mouth. "You love that Taylor chick!"
He shook his head. "Mmmf bbft."
I shook my head, glaring into his face. "You love her. Not me." I pulled my hands off his lips and continued to search for my suitcase. "You're getting married. I'm going home to Australia and we're all going to forget this, okay?" I turned around, trying to remember where I stashed my case. "Oh my God, what got into me?"
"Kristen, maybe this could work!"
I shook my head and threw open my closet. There! My suitcase! I pulled it out and flung it open. I kneeled down and dug through my case to find some clothes to throw on. "Like hell it will."
"We could try."
I spun around, holding a tie-dye skirt and tee. "No!" I yelled at him, my eyes near tearing point. "No." I stood and advanced on him, poking him in the chest. "No. You are engaged. You will marry that girl. And I won't be the girl who comes when you call."
He just stared down at me. "I..."
I blinked and ignored the tickling sensation running down my face. "Get dressed. Now." I stalked to my bathroom and slammed the door.
I looked at my reflection and sighed miserably. I didn't need this. I never meant to do this. "I didn't want this to happen." I whispered. I felt sick. I changed quickly and came back out. He sat on the bed and pulled his shoes on.
I grabbed his wallet and car keys and threw them at him. "Go. Just go."
He just picked them up and quietly left.
I collapsed into a chair. A red Coca Cola can sat on the table, as if mocking me. I flung it away angrily.
What have I done?
