CHAPTER THIRTY-EIGHT

"Say it..." I sang, fading off. I grabbed the towel draped over the keyboard and wiped my face. "Damn, I'm boiling." I puffed.

"Yeah." Jamie sighed, plucking her guitar.

I came out from behind the keyboards, and blew a bubble. I had sang all throughout with a piece of gum in my mouth (which Harmont and Reagent and all the others say you should not do.) I sank down onto the stage, legs hanging over. I pushed my hair back, and blew another bubble.

"That was cool." Zac called, coming down the aisle.

"Yeah. When are me meeting Captain Twins?" I asked.

The others laughed.

"What?"

"Admiral Twin, stupid." Jamie said matter-of-factly.

"Oh whatever."

"They're coming later." Taylor told me, raking a hand through his loose hair.

"Are we gonna meet them?"

"Yeah. But not now." he replied, coming over to me. He looked more awake. Not so tired.

"Why not?" I kept on, sitting on the edge, propping my feet against the stage beneath me. My knees jutted out, and Taylor moved around them. Between them, getting closer.

"Because they're busy." he said in a low tone.

Whoa! Hormone overload! I thought mentally, looking down into his face. I fiddled with my hair, pointedly ignoring the others who were no doubt gaping at us.

"Really?" I asked, chewing furiously on my gum, my face heating up.

"Yeah." he said, blue eyes sparkling up at me.

What the fuck?! Sparkling?! God, I'm too gone, now.

Taylor leaned in closer, body almost lined up with mine. My legs involuntarily closed on his hips, and then immediately I dropped my knees. I slid off the stage and landed on his feet. He fell forward, and I pushed him back, tilting back to get off his feet.

"Down boy." I whispered, my face red. My whole body was so hot.

He just grinned at me, trapped his face between his hands, and touched his nose to mine, looking right into my eyes.

"I feel lucky." I muttered when he was done.

"AHEM!" someone coughed.

We turned to see the other 4 staring. I turned beet red, and dug my shoes into the floor, embarrassed.

"When did this start?" Isaac asked, eyes wide open.

I shrugged, aware of Tay next to me. I felt like I was presenting a strange boy to my parents.

"Last night, but you know I've been this way for ages, Ike." Taylor said loudly.

"Go Kris!" Jamie hooted.

My face flamed more. If only I could be a lesbian. Boys are complicated.

"That's cool." Jessie commented, shrugging it off. I silently thanked her for not making a big deal of it. Jamie was another story.

"What are we going to do now? I mean, the fans and the common 'Do you have a girlfriend?' question??"

Jessica poked her in the side. "Shut up. They'll decide, not us." She fully understood the awkward moment. We had picked on her when she had brought home her first boyfriend. I was just relieved she wasn't paying me back.

"Well, Tay's finally grown up." Isaac grinned goofily.

I relaxed. Maybe this wasn't so bad. I looked around at the grinning faces. So why was Zac frowning like that?
