On June 23, Paul "Bonehead" Arthurs is born in Manchester

1967

On May 29, Noel Gallagher is born in Manchester.

1971

On May 9, Paul "Guigsy" McGuigan is born.

1972

On May 26, Alan White is born in south- east London.
On September 21, Liam Gallagher is born in Manchester.

1991

Five piece Oasis play their first gig at the Boardwalk, Manchester.

1993

On May 31, Oasis is spotted by Creation Records at King Tut's Wah Wah Hut in Glasgow.

1994

On April 11, their first single 'Supersonic' is released by Creation via Sony.
On July 2, follow-up 'Shakermaker' reaches the Top 20, as their appearance at the Heineken Music Festival in Preston's Avenham Park sees Melody Maker dub them the 'Next Big Thing'.
In August, the band is refused entry to Holland after most band members are arrested on the outward ferry ride.
On August 8, 'Live Forever', their first Top 10 single, is released.
On August 29, Oasis' debut album 'Definitely Maybe' is released.
In September, an affray at Newcastle sees Oasis cut their set short after a stage invader punches Noel in the eye.
On October 10, 'Cigarettes and Alchohol' is released.
On December 18, Christmas single 'Whatever' is released.

1995

In January, 'Whatever' becomes their first Top 3 entry.
On February 20, Oasis collect a Brit Award for Best Newcomers but are overshadowed by Blur.
In April, 'Some Might Say' enters the charts at Number 1, just as the split with Tony McCarroll is announced. Alan White takes over as drummer.
On June 23, Oasis headline the Glastonbury Festival on Bonehead's 30th birthday.
On August 14, 'Roll With It' is released in competition with Blur's 'Country House', which it beats to Number 1 the following week.
On September 3, BBC Radio One FM broadcast a documentary on the band.
On September 5, Noel records 'Come Together with Paul Weller and Paul McCartney as the Smokin' Mojo Filters for the War Child Appeal.
In September, Guigsy retires through nervous exhaustion: replaced by Scott McLeod from local band the Ya-Yas.
On October 2, their second album '(What's the Story)Morning Glory' is released. It displaces Mariah Carey at Number 1 a week later.
On October 30, single 'Wonderwall' is released, rising to Number 2.
On November 4 & 5, Oasis play the biggest indoor concerts ever held in the UK at Earls Court, London.

1996

On February 19, Oasis scoop 3 Brit awards: Best Band, Bast Album (for 'Morning Glory'), and Best Video (for 'Wonderwall'). Also, single 'Don't Look Back in Anger' is released.
On April 20, 'Don't Look Back in Anger' is certified platinum (600,000, sales) in UK.
On April 27 & 28, 2 shows at Manchester City's Maine Road ground are recorded for possible future release.
On May 11, Noel declines an Ivor Novello songwriting award as he had been co-nominated with rivals Blur.
In August 1996, Oasis play giant UK dates at Knebworth and Loch Lomond
