Radiohead

Singer Thom Yorke and bassist Colin Greenwood founded a band called TNT in Oxford, UK, in 1982 using a drum machine. After guitarist Ed O'Brien and drummer Phil Selway joined, the band recalled themselves into On A Friday as they practised together on a Friday first. Sometime later Colin's little brother Jonny Greenwood also joined the band by playing harmonica. After having got a record deal the band released their debut EP Drill in March 1992 with minor success having recalled themselves to Radiohead and Jonny having become a guitarist and keyboardist. In September that year they released their debut album Pablo Honey with the classic "Creep", which reached No. 34 on the US charts, having minor success in Britain. 1995 saw the release of the bands 2nd album "The Bends" which slowly became a big selling hit album and became the band's international breakthrough. The album featured the songs "Just", with a brilliant video, and "Street Spirit", the band's first top ten single in the UK. Radiohead are respected by many other great artists and some of them including Tears For Fears, The Pretenders and Alanis Morissette paid tribute to the band by covering their songs. The band has also been on tour with Alanis and R.E.M., because these artists are big fans of Radiohead and wanted them to support them. In 1997 the band's latest album "OK Computer" has been released featuring the No. 3 hit single in the UK "Paranoid Android", a 6 and a half minutes epic with 3 different parts and no chorus. The album went to No. 1 and a follow up is expected later this year.
