Close at Heart
Close at Heart
I don't always see you,
But I see your soul - the person inside.
And you know me so well,
I can't ever hide.
As I read your words,
I hear your voice, your laughs, and see your smile;
And I feel your presence
'Cross endless miles
You're my confidant,
My companion, my dearest friend,
There with kindness, strength and
An ear and shoulder to lend.
We have differences,
Shortcomings; we don't always agree.
But despite of our weakness,
You don't stop loving me.
Far apart, close at heart,
Distance - it's hard to live with it,
For my world's more complete
With a friend like you in it.
T. White, 1998
I wrote this for my dearest and closest friends.... you know who you are :-)
