The Choise
Israel's second participation in the Eurovision went well with the song "Natati La Hayai" (I Gave Her My Life),
which reached the 7th place, and was sang by the 70's rock band "Kaveret".
"Kaveret" was the most succesfull band in israel during the 70's and theire choise as representers of Israel in the Eurovision came with
no surprise. The name of the band "Kaveret" (Beehive) was changed especially for the Eurovision to "Poogey", an easier name for
the Europeans to pronounce.
The group is made up of 7 members, and acordding to the Eurovision rules, only 6 people are alowd on stage. The group had solved
this problem by sending the group member Yoni Rechter, who had also written the song, to conduct on the orchestra.
Some popular members of the band were Gidi Gov (Israel Song Festival 1978),
Dani Sanderson, Alon Olearchick and Efraim Shamir.
