MY STORY: I was a huge fan of these guys, and still am, I still listen to their stuff...I had a bunch of posters of them (which I still have), books, everything...the sheets, the curtains...I watched the cartoon too...I was a HUGE fan. I first heard "Please Don't Go Girl" and actually thought it was NEW EDITION (another Maurice Starr group) but then I discovered the New Kids.
My brother was one about a year old when the guys were really big but before he could even speak he used to do 'The Right Stuff' dance in his playpen and 'sing' the song (in baby talk).
I wrote to the fan club twice. Even though I didn't get a DIRECT response from the guys themselves, I did get letters from the fan club. Imagine my excitement getting mail from the fan club saying they got my letter!! I never got a chance to see the New Kids in person. I never went to a concert and I think I'm making up for it by seeing the Backstreet Boys and *NSYNC in concert. I'm so glad that the Backstreet Boys and *NSYNC exist now. We need more of those groups that used to permeate the airwaves when I was younger. A new generation of them!! It's great fun and I'm having the time
So. I'll just let you know that my favourite New Kid was Joe.My sister's was...well...I think first it was Donnie and then it went to Jordan...Anyway, Joey Joe is now actually comin' out with a new album!! Only visitors to his official website (which I'll post later) can buy his CD but I read that it's sold out already!! His song, "Stay the Same" is doing REALLY well here in New England. It was #4 on the Top 9 at 9 and people are requesting it a lot. So it's looking REALLY GOOD FOR JOE!!!
I got a chance to chat for a few minutes with Joe when I called into a radio station (92PRO FM in Providence, RI) one morning. That was amazing!! I also just won tickets to see Joe (and other stars) at the station's Jingle Mingle (you have to win to go) so maybe I'll get to MEET him. Maybe I'll get his autograph in person!!! I have one that my dad got when he saw them at the airport almost 10 years ago. He got Joe's and Jon's autograph on October 30, 1989. It was awesome to get them but I was a wreck...
