straightedge and religion? it's pretty amazing to see how blind people can be (espically in the punk rock/hardcore scene). when i think of punk rock/straightedge/veganism/whatever, i think of throwing all the things i've been told into the garbage...this includes meat eating, natio alism, sexism, homophobia, drug use, and RELIGION. any religion was designed and is used to seperate people, sort of like races, nations, species, and make them easier to conquer, control, and exploit. slaves in the reniscannce (however it's spelled) kept in line (and in shit) because, if they were passive, they would live a better life in "heaven". that's example 1 of thousands in how religion has been used against people instead of for people---it's h ppened thousands of years ago, and is happening today (look at the way fundementalist are using their religion to bash gays). you even said for that the only way to experiance heaven is through jesus christ. HOW FUCKING EGOTISTICAL IS THAT? just because you've been raised to believe that, doesn't mean you are better than ANYONE else. are the muslims, buddhists, bahais, atheists, krsnas not going to see heaven because they haven't found YOUR master? am i not a spiritual person (or a good person at that), because i don't worship YOUR GOD, YOUR JESUS,and YOUR RELIGION? i don't need religion to act as a placebo so i can feel good for myself. i don't need masters. i don't need moral and ethical guidelines to tell me what is right or wrong. "i don't need religion to prove i exist"-chokehold. as long as your submitting yourself to religion, your submitting yourself to the power, greed, and domination that controls our lives. look inside yourself for once. do something not becase jesus would do it, but because YOU would do it.
