It was the fall of 1991 when Mustard Plug first started rattling basement foundations in Grand Rapids. Its members, comprised of a cornucopia of local no-name punk rock talent and few misfit jazz and blues musicians. got together to play their own brand of high-energy, punk-influenced ska. By the following spring, Mustard Plug had emerged from it's subterranean cocoon to reap havoc on the local alternative club scene. Within a few short months they had garnered a near fanatical following among local yahoos for their string of outrageous performances. Since that time, Mustard Plug has amassed a history of hugely successful headline shows as well as had the opportunity to open for such diverse acts as Green Day, Helmet, The Skatalites, Wierd Al Yankovic, The Toasters, The Meatmen, Timothy Leary, Skanking Pickle, Digable Planets, Mighty Mighty Bosstones, the New Bomb Turks, Black Sheep, The Dance Hall Crashers, Hepcat, and MU330 just to name a few.
