sXe 101
1st off, what is sXe?? Well, sXe is an abbreviation for something called Straight Edge. There are many many definitions as to what Straight Edge actually is. However, no matter what, Straight Edge is not a religion, a cult, or a gang. Straight Edge is merely a lifestyle that one takes up. Generally, Straight Edge means that one does not use drugs, smoke, or drink. This is basic to being Striaght Edge. Some Striaght Edger's refuse to use any drugs at all including tylenol, asprin, pepto-bismol, or any other OTC drug. Recently, other concepts have crept their way into the world of Stright Edge. Many Straight Edger's are vagans. Veganism is a form of being aveggetarian. However, instead of just not eating meat, they also don't eat products that come from animals such as milk. Many also are against casual sex or sex before marriage as well.
Many Staraight Edger's listen to punk, and specifically hardcore, but it really doesn't matter, just as long as you don't do any major drugs (major being cigarettes and beer too). I am Straight Edge and I love ska, so there you go.
To show the world that you are Straight Edge, you put an X on the back of your hand. Some put XXX or sXe too. It really doesnt matter, and the single X seems to be the most popular.
