Chapter 5

Isaac opened his eyes and looked around him without moving his head. He was a bit dizzy and his head ached, but overall he didn’t feel too bad. He reminded himself not to drink so much next time. His eyes then focused on Lisa’s face, she had her eyes closed and was breathing in and out steadily. He couldn’t resist noticing how pretty she looked, with her front bit hair, which came down to her cheekbones, resting upon her face. He moved his hand towards her face and gently lifted the strands of hair that fell upon it. He wished he could lay there for hours just staring at her while she slept, but he knew that he was in big trouble with his parents. He had fallen asleep with Lisa and forgotten to go home like he was told to. He wished he was an adult, then he could do what he pleased, but he wasn’t, and now his parents would be worried sick, and would be very mad at him when he would tell them what had happened. Embarrassed at the thought of what he would tell them, he unwillingly lifted himself off the bed being careful not to wake Lisa. As he was getting up though, still a bit dizzy from last night, he stumbled across the floor, almost falling over his shoes which he had thrown last night carelessly on the floor. The noise caused Lisa to stir finally awaking her. She opened her honey colored eyes and looked up at Isaac, putting on a half sleepy smile.

"I’m sorry, didn’t mean to wake you", Isaac apologized and bent over to kiss her good morning.

"You weren’t going to sneak off where you?", she joked, almost looking sad.

"Uhh… it did pass my mind", Isaac confessed, "but I’d call you later on".

"Was I such a let down last night?", Lisa continued joking.

"No no! You were perfect, it’s just that you looked so beautiful and peaceful sleeping, that it I couldn’t bring myself to wake you".

Lisa giggled, "oh come on, I’m terrible when I’m sleeping!"

"Lisa, really you are beautiful, but I must go now, my parents will kill me! They’ll be worried sick by now!", Isaac said pulling on his trousers and his black shirt which was unusually crushed up.

"Oh my gosh! You were supposed to go home yesterday! Oh, Ike, what are you going to do? You’re parents will be furious!", Lisa said feeling embarrassed about their irresponsible behavior.

"Tell me about it!", Isaac said doing up the last of his shirt’s buttons and quickly sliding his shoes on.

"I hope you aren’t into too much trouble Ike, I feel so responsible", Lisa sadly said.

"Lisa, it’s not your fault, I’m old enough to know how to be responsible, now don’t you feel guilty, okay?", he said and leaned over to kiss her one last time before he was out the door.

They both kissed for a moment, Isaac wished he could spend the whole day with her, and was almost sorry he had to leave her, but he had to go. They finished kissing and briefly hugged each other, said their good-byes and then Isaac was off, trying hard not to think of what his parents would have to say to him when he got home and explained to them what had happen. Of course he couldn’t say the whole truth, but his parents weren’t dumb, they would figure it out.

Taylor sighed, he was getting so restless. He jumped off his bed and walked down the stairs to the lounge room. He sat down on the couch and turned on the TV using the remote which had been lying on the floor. After a couple of minutes of zapping through the channels he finally left it on MTV and lay down on the floor on his back and started to sing a long with the song playing on TV.

"Tay?" Mrs. Hanson said as she came into the lounge finding her son on the floor singing. "Are you feeling okay honey?"

"No mum, I’m BORED!!", Taylor almost yelled out the last word.

"Why don’t you go out and do something?", his mother asked him.

"There is nothing to do, I’m sick of doing the same things everyday!"

"I can always give you housework to do, the kitchen could do with a cleaning up, and there is ironing to be done. Maybe that will keep you occupied for a while", Mrs. Hanson said and turned to walk off.

"Uhhh.. you know what mum? I think I’ll go for a walk to the mall, I just remembered that I have to buy some stuff for Sam", Taylor lied, hoping that his mother wouldn’t make him stay and do housework.

"Go on then, but don’t you think that you won’t have to help around a bit when you get back", Mrs. Hanson said smiling to herself.

Taylor moaned and got up. Why was he feeling so lazy? He walked up to his room and changed his clothes. Then he walked down to the door and taking the keys in his pocket he walked outside into the hot summer air.

Zac showered and got dressed quickly. He had gone over to Nick’s and had been playing video games and had almost forgotten that he was supposed to meet Kimmy at the mall.

Moments later he was outside running fast towards the bus stop. Luckily the bus came straight away otherwise he would have been extra late.

It was a ten minute drive with the bus and when he finally got to the mall he hurried to where they were to meet.

"Thought you weren’t going to come", Kimmy’s voice coming from behind him caught Zac by surprise.

"Um.. yeah… sorry… I… um… kind of forgot about it", Zac said turning around and facing Kimmy who was sitting on a bench near a little fountain.

"What a charmer you are", Kimmy laughed.

"Hey, well at least I’m honest!", Zac sat down beside her and looked at her with his puppy eyes putting on a ‘forgive-me’ smile for her.

"It’s okay, I haven’t been waiting too long, I was a bit late myself… I’m glad you came though, I really like hanging out with you".

"Yeah well wait till you REALLY hang out with me! Maybe you’ll change your mind!", Zac said causing Kimmy to laugh.

"Nah, I don’t think I’ll regret it, I’m all thumbs up for action and fun!"

"COOL! That’s what I like in girls!", Zac said suddenly feeling very comfortable with his new friend.

"So, what d’you wonna do? I’m kind of hungry… do you mind if we grab a bite?"

"Mmm… I like girls that know what they want", Zac teased her.

"Oh stop it, don’t tell me you're not hungry".

"Well… nope!"

"Really?", Kimmy sounded surprised, "have you already eaten something?".

"Umm… nope!"

"Then why not? C’mon Zac speak to me!"

Zac laughed and got up, "Okay okay, I’ll speak, I’m hungry, lets go grab a bite".

Zac pulled Kimmy from the hand to get her up and then they both walked to get something to eat.

"KATIE!!", Kimmy called out as she spotted her friend in the mall getting ready to order something.

"Kimmy? Wow, what are you doing here? This has got to stop, it’s the third time I’ve bumped into you here this week.", Katie joked and then focused on Zac. "Zac, right? Hanson’s Zac", she said smiling sweetly.

"Good memory", Zac answered back trying to remember which one of the girls she was.

"Yeah well, it’s not hard to remember a Hanson", Katie said and then turned to her friend, "listen, I’ve got to go, my mum’s waiting for me in the car, I was just grabbing a take away".

"Okay, call me?"

"No prob bob!", Katie said and then turning to Zac again, "nice to meet you again Zac, love the trousers, you’ve got to tell me where you got them from, some other time though coz I’ve got to get outta here", she said and giving them both a last smile she disappeared in the crowd heading towards the parking.

"That’s our Katie!", Kimmy laughed when she saw Zac’s puzzled expression.

"Wow, she was like BOOM BOOM and then gone!", Zac joked.

Kimmy laughed, "yeah well she must be in one of her hyper moods today".

"I’m not sure if I remember correctly, but wasn’t she the one that just sat on the side not saying a word to anyone for the whole evening?"

"You mean when we all met first time the other night?"

"Yeah, she didn’t say a word all night, and now I couldn’t put a word in!", Zac joked.

"Well, she wasn’t in a good mood that night, she had had a fight with her boyfriend and almost broke up with him, I don’t blame her for not wanting to speak much".

"Oh, I see, she did look kind of sad, anyway, what are you going to have?"

"A cheeseburger with chips… oh, and a medium sized coke".

Zac ordered for both of them and then they sat down to eat.

After they had eaten and then talked for quite some time they decided it was late and they had better head home. They said goodbye to each other and went off in there own directions.

That night Zac went to bed feeling happy that he had made a new friend. He liked Kimmy very much, she was not like most girls he had met, she had kind of a boyish side to her too without ruining her feminine side. Then he thought of Katie, how weird it was that people are not always how they seem to be at first. He reminded himself that he should never judge someone without getting to know them first, something that was hard to follow though because first impressions are almost always the most important ones.
