Monhegan is one of my favorite places in New England, if not the entire US. This time it wasn't shrowded in fog, the water was still warm enough to swim, and the number of people was significantly less. September is the best time to go.

My Subaru, ferry	3rd multi-week road-trip I've taken, and the second one with Zaichonok. Was particularly fruitful in avoiding tourist traps and concentrating on natural sights. We were very fortunate to have excellent weather when it counted. The highlights were Mt. Albert in Gaspesie (17km, 10hrs), Green Gardens (16km, 7hrs), Gros Morne Mt. (16km, 8 hrs), and Western Brook Pond in Gros Morne NP. All sorts of beasties were viewed in the wild, inc. black bears on 2 occasions, caribou on 2 occasions, moose on 3 occasions, deer, fox, hare, mink, seals and whales.

Some of the faculty joined us for a 2-day adventure in the Laurentides w. basic yet exciting rock-climbs w. all the necessary equipment. Toward the end, relaxed in an empty skiing lodge complete with a sauna.
