Paradise Lost: Permanent Solution (1999)


A 6 song import mini EP I bought from CDNow and I'm glad I did. This EP is in support of Paradise Lost's new single "Permanent Solution". The CD features 3 mixes of "PS" including a club remix, a video remix and the album version. The club mix is very cool and features some techno sounds in the middle of the song without sounding way too techno. The video remix (dubbed the "Toy Mix") is very cool and not all that different from the original but still interesting to say the least. Along with the 3 mixes of "Permanent", it also features an AMAZING remix of "So Much Is Lost" which sounds so much more emotional and slowed down a lot. You have to hear that one to believe it. Also included are three live tracks and these tracks are how Host should have sounded...real drums. The tracks are "Nothing Sacred", "Behind The Grey" and "Made The Same". "Made The Same" comes off sounding the best of the three with a much more atmospheric middle section than the album version...these three tracks prove what a performer Nick Holmes is and how great Paradise Lost really are. If you get a chance, I do recommend. Keep in mind though, if you didn't like Host, you probably won't like this except for maybe the live tracks.
