Queensryche: Q2K (1999)
The question on everybodys mind is will Queensryche release another Operation: Mindcrime? The answer, judging by Q2K is no. But from my perspective, it seems the band is at least headed in the right direction. Yes, Q2K is filled with a lot of grungy sounding songs but at the same time, Geoff is actually singing for a change. Unfortunately, out of the 11 songs, I can only find four I actually like. That leads me to ask, what the hell happened? Yes, I know this is a mixed review but if the band would stay on one track like the Empire-ish "Liquid Sky" or Promised Land-ish "Wot Kinda Man" or the spooky "Right Side of My Mind" and let go of the Now Frontier days, this band would be perfect. The only other worthwhile song on here is the ballad "Beside You" and I think thats because I can relate to the lyrics- not so much for the music.
