Three Fish- The Quiet Table (1999)

A very mellow offering from Robbi Robb (Tribe After Tribe) and Jeff Ament's (Pearl Jam) side project. While the last album thrived on noisy percussion and a bit of chaos, this one is the complete opposite, hence the title, The Quiet Table. "Shiva And The Astronaut" open the album and this is one of those songs thats so beautiful it could bring a tear to your eye. Next up is "Tremor Void" which could've been a Pearl Jam song- in fact, I believe there is a PJ song with that title. "Myth Of Abdou" is a very eccentric sounding track that has a very Greek sound to it along with a mid-east feel. "Timeless" is a beautiful song that singer Robb wrote about Mother Teresa and you can hear other news references throughout this song. "Hummingbird" is the only song that I can think of where Robb switches out of the low range with his voice and sings a bit higher (like Tribe After Tribe). The song is exceptional and really hits home. "Resonate" is another very Pearl Jam-sounding song even more so than "Tremor". The last song on here is a beautiful African (I believe??) chant that lasts about 4 minutes and just absolutely amazes...very Robbi Robb-ish. The only complaint I have about this is that Robb sounds so down-key and one-dimensional...he still outdoes almost every singer around now-adays but I wish Three Fish would let him use his outstanding talent like he does in Tribe After Tribe. Still, a cool album even if it does sound a little too alternative.
