Various Artists- Appetite For Reconstruction: A Tribute To Guns N Roses

This album takes Guns N Roses songs to a whole different level. Let me explain- this is not your average bunch of cock-rock bands redoing some GN'R tunes in the same old way. Rather, this is many cock-rock singers (and many cool ones) singing GN'R tunes over an industrial sound (with remixes from Interface, KMFDM, Die Krupps, etc). The only real highlights here though are John Corabi of Union singing Mr. Brownstone (Sigue Sigue Sputnick remix), Kory Clarke of Warrior Soul singing Paradise City (Sheep On Drugs remix) and Jizzy Pearl of Love/Hate singing Sweet Child O' Mine (Ex-Voto remix). Sweet Child O' Mine doesn't stray too far from the original (besides the techno drums) and Jizzy sounds a lot like Axl on here. Paradise City also doesn't sound too different but those expecting Kory Clarke to sound like he did in Warrior Soul, be forewarned....it sounds like he has gone for a more pop image than the metal image he once showed us. Mr. Brownstone is a lot different than the original and John proves what a strong vocalist he is on this track. Another semi-worthy track is Steve Summers of Pretty Boy Floyd doing Think About You (Die Krupps remix) but damn, does that guy sound like a girl. A decent album but don't expect faithful sounding covers of Gn'R tunes.
