Nicole Ari Parker has been performing most of her life. She has accumulated a long list of credits that have been pretty much slept on until she burst on the scene as Teri on Showtime’s television series Soul Food (based on the movie). But for those of you who have done your homework, you may know that Nicole’s television credits include Exiled, Mind Prey & Divas and she also appeared in Disney’s The Loretta Claiborne Story. And let’s remember that she’s also put in theatre work which include her performances in Romeo & Juliet, Chicago and House of Lear. If you haven’t followed her career that long, maybe you’ve recognized her from several appearances in independent films including "Loving Jezebel," "Sebastian Cole" and "200 Cigarettes." She also appeared in "Boogie Nights," "Blue Streak" and "Remember The Titans" as Denzel Washington’s wife. She has gained worldwide recognition in Oil of Olay ads which circulated in major magazines like Vogue, Elle, Vanity Fair and Harper's Bazaar.
Nicole Ari Parker was born on October 7th in Balitimore, MD, but currently has several residences. She lives in Toronto, Canada when she is working on Soul Food and she also resides in both New York and Los Angeles.
Nicole has always wanted to be an actress. Growing up she was enrolled in the Baltimore Actors Theatre and the Washington Ballet Company before she moved to New York to study acting at New York University. Nicole is also a graduate of the Tisch School of the Arts, Circle in the Square studio.
She is an active participant of the non-profit organization 'Habitat for Humanity'. The organization builds homes for single mothers in the US, Africa, the Middle East, Europe, Asia, Latin American the Caribbean and Canada.
Besides catching Nicole on Showtime, she will star as Reese in the movie "Brown Sugar," which will be out sometime this fall. Also featured in the film are Boris Kodjoe (Damon from Soul Food, Sanaa Lathan, Queen Latifah, Taye Diggs and Mos Def.
