Asheton, Ron
Guitarist of the Stooges, the New Order, Destroy All Monsters.
Alexander, Dave
Bassist of the Stooges. Joined the band soon after its start. Plays their debut album THE STOOGES and the following FUNHOUSE. Then fired because of his sodden performance at Jackson's Goose Lake Festival in Aug, 1970. Died in 1975.
Asheton, Scott
Drummer of the Stooges, Sonic's Rendez Vous Band.
Bators, Stiv
Singer of Dead Boys, Lords of the New Church. Died in Paris on 6/4/1990, run over by a car. He was about to form The New Lords Of The New Church, then.
Bell, Marc
Drummer of the Voidoids. Later joined the Ramones as Marky Ramone.

Drummer of Dead Boys.
Byrne, David
Singer/Guitarist of Talking Heads.
Cale, John
Plays the bass, the electric viola, the piano, the organ and sings in the Velvet Underground (1st - 2nd album). Then went solo. Produced many albums such as the Stooges' 1st album.

Singer-song-writer, poet. Known as the author of "The Basketball Diaries."

Another name of Lenny Kaye. Released a solo single "Crazy Like A Fox b/w Shock Me" in Mar '66. Reissued from Terry Ork's ORK RECORDS in 1977.

Drummer of the Neon Boys, Television.

A photographer who's been watching NY scene. Famous for its work with John Lennon in his NY days, or New York Dolls film/photos, etc.
Hell, Richard
Singer/bassist of the Neon Boys, Television, Heartbreakers, the Voidoids, Dimstars. "The King of New York", says Thurston Moore. Once a husband of Patti Smyth (not Smith).
James, Brian
Guitarist of the Damned, the Lords of the New Church, Iggy Pop band in '80.
Johansen, David
Singer of New York Dolls. Went solo and later named himself Buster Poindexter.
Kane, Arthur "Killer"
Bassist of New York Dolls (start-early 1975), Idols, Killer Kane band, Corpse Grinders.
Kaye, Lenny
Guitarist of Patti Smith Group. Also known as the compiler of NUGGETS album (60s Psyche Omnibus), editor of "Rock Scene" mag, who submitted infos on early Blank Generation scene.
Kramer, Wayne
Guitarist of MC5. Later formed Gang War with Johnny Thunders ('80). Recently, released a solo album HARD STUFF from Epitaph Records.
Kristal, Hilly
Owner of the club, CBGB. Did some manager work, with such as Dead Boys, the boys from Cleveland.
Lloyd, Richard
Guitarist of Television.
Mackay, Steve
A member of the Stooges in FUNHOUSE, though he doesn't show up on the inner-cover photo. Plays the tenor saxophone and adds freaky tastes to the album.
Mapplethorpe, Robert
Well known photographer. He lived with Patti Smith who just came to NY. You can look at his photo on the cover of Patti Smith Group 1st HORSES, Television 1st MARQUEE_MOON.
Moore, Thurston
A very tall guy.
Murcia, Billy
The original drummer for New York Dolls. Died of drug overdose on their 1st UK tour in 1972. Dolls' 1st album titled NEW YORK DOLLS is dedicated to him.

Female singer of Destroy All Monsters.
Nolan, Jerry
The drummer of New York Dolls who replaced Murcia. Played in Dolls (until its end), Heartbreaders (quit just after their 1st album), Idols with Syl & Killer Kane, London Cowboys, and Heartbreakers' reunions. He died in 1992.
Ork, Terry
Manager of Television. Owner of Ork Records that issued Television's single "Little Johnny Jewel." Television's 1st album MARQUEE MOON is dedicated to him.
Pop, Iggy
The singer of the Stooges from Detroit, MI. The wildest rocker ever.
Ramone, Dee Dee
Original Bassist of the Ramones.

Singer of the Ramones.

Guitarist of the Ramones.
Ramone, Marky
drummer of the Ramones ('78 - '83, '88 - now). He was the original member of The Voidoids as Marc Bell.

Drummer -original member- of Ramones (-'78).
Rao, Johnny
Lead guitarist in D.Johansen's first solo band after the NY Dolls. Played on David Johansen 1st solo album (S/T, Blue Sky JZ34926, 1978) and 2nd album (In Style, Blue Sky, JZ36082, 1979). His fantastic playing is prominently displayed on "The David Johansen Group Live" recorded in 1978 at New York's Bottom Line w/Johnny Thunders & Syl Sylvain. This great album, originally issued as a promo back in the late 70's, was reissued on CD (Epic/Legacy ZK53218) in 1993. A vastly underrated guitar player, Johnny Rao can be still found gigging around Manhattan with other members of the old "Blank Generation" crowd like Michael Monroe, Tony Machine, etc.

Lou Reed is the singer and the guitarist of the legendary Velvet Underground. After VU, he's been a solo artist.
Smith, Fred
Quit Blondie to join Television in place of Richard Hell. Bassist.
Smith, Fred "Sonic"
Guitarist of MC5. Married Patti Smith in late 70s. Sonic Youth was named after his name. Died on 11/4/94 at the age of 44.
Smith, Patti
Singer/Poet. After top 10 single "Because the night"('78), retired from the scene with the album WAVE('79). Married Fred "Sonic" Smith.
Sylvain, Sylvain or Syl Sylvain
Another New York Doll. Guitarist.
Thompson, Dennis
Drummer of MC5, New Race.
Thunders, Johnny
Guitarist of New York Dolls ('72 - '75), then formed Heartbreakers with Richard Hell who just quit Television. Went solo and made his 1st solo album SO ALONE in '78. Died in 4/23/91 in New Orleans. (Drug overdose) He was going to make an album with New Orleans musicians.
Tyner, Rob
Singer of MC5 -Motor City 5- from Detroit. His scream "Motherfuckers" in their debut live album, troubled their label Elektra with record stores. And soon moved to Atlantic. Two more albums from Atlantic and the band broke up. Never to reunion. Became photographer and made solo work. Died on 9/17/91.
Verlaine, Tom
Singer/Guitarist of the Neon Boys, Television. His name "Verlaine" is taken from French poet Verlaine. Yes he is a poet.
