In July of 1999, i heard on the radio that The Wiz was selling tickets to the Backstreet Boys, Millennium concert in Nassau Colesium. I was so excited. I quickly told my mom, who had also heard about it. She told me that she would take me to get them when they started selling them, and that they would be a part of my birthday present, which happens to be the same as Howie's! (august 22nd) I was psyched. So one day in July, early in the morning, my mom woke me up. She said it was time to go get the tickets. I looked at the clock and it said 4:30. i remember not caring about the time, because i'll do anything for the backstreet boys. My heart was racing as the rain poured down on the roof of the car. As we pulled into the parking lot of The Wiz, and saw few people waiting there, my heart grew sad remembering that it was not first come first serve. But i couldent get my hopes down yet now could I. So my mom and i took out the folding chairs, and the umbrella, and took a spot in the back of the short line. My mom quickly sat down, but I was too excited to. I made friends with some of the other bsb fans in line, and they talked about how they went to other concerts, and how fabulous it was.
As time passed, the line got longer, and longer and longer. And my hopes got sadder and sadder and sadder. Finally it was time to hand out the numbers. My heart was racing. when all the numbers were handed out, a little girl picked a # from the box it had to be from that number, and up, untill tickets were gone. I started to scream, my # was in that range. I was so happy. But then remembered that that the tickets may run out b4 i get up to the counter. We waited in the line for like 5 minutes, what seemed to be foreva. Finally, I got up to the counter. I smiled wide. My mom said 8 tickets please, and handed the girl her credit card. I almost cried when she said the "credit card scanner isn't workin. u have to pay cash or leave the line." My mother said, "oh no, i don't think so! i've waited in this line since 4 this morning! now can u print out the tickets so i can call my husband to bring the money over." She checked with the manager, and he said it was okay. To our surprise my dad and uncle wizzed up in the car a few seconds later, and gave us the money. My mom and i went back inside to get the tickets, and we finally got them. I held them in my hands, not yet realizing that i was going to my first concert ever, not to mention bsb. When i got in the car, I looked in my hand at the tickets. I started to cry, for i had just realized that I GOT THE TICKETS. I opened the envelope carefully, and looked at the seat row. It was in the 300 sections, which was far away, but i could care less. At least i was going, right?
When i got home, my friend's mom called me to c if i got the tickets. She told me she had saw us come up the block. My mom said yes we got them. I heard screams on the other line from my friend. Then we called my aunt to tell her we had gotten the ticket for my cousin, but not to tell her. It was to be a surprise for her birthday which was close to mine. She flipped out when she got them. From that day on, I was so happy that i couldn't sleep...and i mean it. Even tho it was like 2 months b4 the concert i was psyched. I had never been so happy.
Finally, when the day came. Of corse i couldn't sleep. I think it was a sunday, cuz i remember being tired for school the next day. I was so overly excited that i kept askin, how long til' we leave. We had made a sign, our bsb shirts on, our spirits booming, and our hearts racing! It was like your first love, but better. Much much better. When the time actually came to go, i was in a daze. It was like "im gonna see those 5 hotties, live, and in person." It was fun. To make the ride faster, we popped in an old bsb video tape. (i have a really big van, mark3 to be exact) We watched it until we got to the exit. I shut it off, held my ticeket in my hand, and started to cry. My friend looked at me, and she started too. Our parents thought we were nuts. When we got to the Colesium, my heart was so fast i could hardly breathe. I took my glasses out of my pocket so i could see and remember all of this excitement. (hehe and the hotties!!!) We got some pins of the boys, and pinned them on each other in the order of our favorite. (mine is: nick, brian, aj, kevin, howie.) We got other souvenirs, and then looked for our seats. They were very far away, but who cared, we had binoculars. We sat down and waited for what seemed like hours for them to come on.
The opening act was some group i had never heard of. The crowd started cheering Backstreet boys..Backstreet boys... over and over. I think i was the loudest. hehehe. There was banging sounds from the fans kicking the seats in front of them. Until finally..... a huge burst of smoke came out of the stage and this eerie music came on. Comin' out of the cloud of smoke was the 5 most hottiest, best sounding boys (oops i meen men, lol) in the world... of course the backstreet boys. They were flying in the air on what looked like skatboards. Untill finally, they landed on the stage (which they built up like a platform, which rotated so all the fans could c there every move. and trust me when they shook there cute behinds,on one end, you could c it on the other.) When they landed there was a huge roar of screams. They finally started singing, and boy did they sound fabulous. During the show, they went back in the air on strings, and flipped in the air, and danced in the air, and squirted water on the audience. It was great. When they sang "the perfect fan" I saw tears in my mom's eyes. The audience loved this show so much, that they had to do like 3 encores. It was a day i still remember today, and will remember forever. My MOM even liked it. She said out of all the concerts she went to, this was one of the best. She tells that to everyone. (she thinks kevin is cute, luv ya ma) I really hope that i can go to the upcoming ones from their new album (which rocks, it the best, it rules.) I will never forget what a wonderful show they put on. I love them so much and nuthin can change that. LET ALL US BACKSTREET BOYS FANS KEEP THE BACKSTREET BOY PRIDE ALIVE!!!!
