º In the September 3rd issue of Entertainment Wekkyl, the Backstreet Boys are mentioned twice. The issue is about "Summer Winners & Losers!" Of course, the guys are part of the "winner"'s bunch.

BACKSTREET BOYS

"Ain't nothin' butfloat.gif (2527 bytes) a heartache/Ain't nothin' but a mistake/I never wanna hear you say/I want it that way." Say what? The driving force behind the album of the year and a fixture on MTV's Total Request Live the single is also the most perplexing song of the summer. So, BSB, exactly which way do you want it? Group member A.J. McLean says the song's about a fighting couple: One wants it this way, and one wants it that way. In the end, they have to figure out how to compromise because they love each other." Gotcha. Now all in favour of its becoming the new Birger King theme, say "I."

º The second mention of the Backstreet Boys is about 2 BSB ex-girlfirends writing tell-all books about their relationships.

TWO EX-CITED BACKSTREET BOYS Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned...by a Backstreet Boy. Two ex-girlfriends of the crooners are getting back by writing tell-alls: In November, St. Martin's is publishing What You Wanna Know: Backstreet Boys Secrets Only a Girlfriend Can Tell by Brian Littrell's high school sweetheart Samantha Stonebraker. Not to be outdone, Simon & Schuster is crashing A.J. McLean's former paramour Marisa Jackson's Loving A.J.: My Six-Year Romance With a Backstreet Boy into print next month. "I got to see everything," confides Stonebraker. "But of course, for this particular book I'm making it PG." We just hope the catfighting tomes are a bit juicier than last year's The Heart and Soul of Nick Carter: Secrets Only a Mother Knows
